2014 SS Rough Idle, Service Stabilitrak

After a week of driving (in excess of 500 miles) I have gotten a code P0430.

Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2

Does this mean the cat is gone? What are my options?

Please see the attached video. I can start it every time, but it takes awhile to crank. Engine light and Stabilitrak Service warning.

Significant power loss. Very rough idle.

Was hoping to go on a trip tomorrow...

Slow crank and stabilitrak message = weak battery

How would this create rough idle and loss of power?

Weak ignition or struggling fuel pump.

Not sure if you have any experience working on these cars.

A new battery would be an easy first try, much cheaper than some of the other things it could be.

Flashing service engine light usually means misfire. One or more cylinders isn't firing for some reason. Not good to run the engine like this, the extra unburned gas will heat up the cats and damage them. I would get a cheap OBDII scanner and read the codes. This could give some good info.

Next I would remove all the spark plugs to see if any look odd/fouled. Or too clean.

Then I would take the valve covers off and inspect the springs, rockers and push rods. It's easy, just take off the coil packs and then the valve covers. Turn the engine over by hand and watch each one.

If all that looked OK, I would try to rule out the fuel pump and injectors.

And after that I would go internal.

Has there been any modifications that you know of? And what area are you close too? You have Vengence Racing, LSX Atlanta, Spartan LSX, just to name a few of the bigger guys. Have you checked any of the items listed above yet?

If you had only the engine warning light, I would be thinking ignition or injector wiring damage causing misfire.

But you also have Stabilitrak, which again, is a classic weak battery indicator.

I had this exact thing happen to me on the way to the track. What caused it was a spark plug wire was touching the header. I re positioned it with a tie wrap and bingo. I'm not saying thats the cause of your issues but it does give you something to look at.

Do you have headers? They melt wires unless the wires are clad in insulating sleeves.

Also, if the plastic engine cover is still on, look under it. Rodents like to live there and chew on the injector harness.

If your engine is an L99, I'll bet you have a collapsed AFM lifter. Check your code and misfire data stream. The AFM lifters are on 1, 4, 6 and 7. If the misfire is one of those cylinders, pull the valve cover and have some one crank the engine and watch the rocker arms. If you see a rocker arm not moving, you just found your problem.

can you list out all the codes you get? It does sound like maybe a rocker but please list the codes. It's not that long to pull the valve covers and the code may help identify what cyl so maybe only need to pull one for a quick inspection.
