SC3R track life and alternatives

Whats the most track days you guys have gotten out of the SC3R's on track?

The oem set i really dont consider on mine because i went through them pretty quick on the street.

I had ordered the SC3's but theres no stock anywhere on the front tires, so now im between SC3R's, another set of ExtremeContact Force's (for price and longevity), or try out the pilot cup 2's.

I know the 3r's are gonna last the least, but they're also gonna be the fastest of the bunch.

I'll let others answer the various questions, but I see that Tirerack shows them in stock for OEM ZL1 1LE sizes. Is it only for west coast, maybe?

I corded the inboard side of my right front tire in 2 track days (5 20 minute sessions) at Thunderhill. I noticed it when I went to rotate the front tires. It was in track camber and I drove about 100 miles to the track on it which could have contributed to the early wear. It took me by surprise because I was previously getting about 4 days out of the SC3R tires.

Of the two its toe that cords tires, not camber.

Might try the toyo RR - better grip and life than sc3r. DOT legal but with only two small channels around circumference, if there is rain, it cant really be driven.

Really leaning on the tires before they're fully up to temp is what cords them. Have to monitor the PSI carefully and not go 7/10'ths and above until they're up to about 34.

Has anyone tried regular SC3's, but in 1LE spec (305/325)? I have been running my OEM wheels/tires (285/305 Regular ZL1 SC3's) on track and have been happy with them for the most part. I just got to the point recently that I am out driving the tires, so I got a set of SC3R's. My first track day on them I delaminated both front tires. I am wondering if the regular SC3's would still be really good on track, and last 10+ track days. 285/305 VS 305/325 should make a pretty big difference.

@rapidblue - that looks like a blister, not a delam. Looks to me like it was overheated. Not sure if that's the inboard or outboard side..but if inboard, too much neg camber, if outboard, not enough neg camber. Guessing outboard.

No tire is going to last 10 days driven hard on track on these heavy, high hp cars if by last you mean perform similarly day 1 vs 10.

Imo, getting 2 weekends out of a set (4 days, 3 sessions/day) would be excellent life.

That’s simply tire rubber. That looks normal. Mine get way worse depending on the track.

We’ve run the regular sc in 1le sizes and have had them for about 8 sessions and still wearing well. Giving up some braking and stick em but my son and I have gotten less aggressive on track as well as backed way off on how often we go.

It is inboard. I'm sure I need to adjust camber again for these tires. This was my first time using them, so trial and error. I just bought a Longacre tire pyrometer, so that should help me figure out where to set the alignment.

Yeah, I track my car to have fun. I don't compete with it. If I'm down a couple seconds, that doesn't really bother me. If I can get an extra 4+ days out of the tires, that would be a win. I have about 8 track days on my 285/305 SC3's, and they still have a good bit of life left.

Try Falken RT660's. Not the fastest lap times but gets to temperature quicker than SCR3 and also lasts long. I like them for the amount of feedback I get through the steering wheel.

Not a good choice my friend. Those Toyos come apart when thrashed. There's a couple of YouTube vids on it.
