August 2014 Issue of Automobile Magazine

Hey everyone. Just picked this issue up in an airport because of a story on the front titled "2016 Camaro: Lighter, Bolder, Stronger". I tried to share this story from their website but could not because it must be too new. Anyone else seen this? The artist rendition is unbelievable because it's based on the possibility of a 2nd gen inspired retro.

Yeah I'm not seeing it yet in the Readr app on the iPad either....but it sounds good....look forward to reading that and seeing the pictures too !

Personally I'd love a 2nd generation inspired car...even if it is unlikely

Agree. This is still my favorite rendering.

Looks more like a Toyota Supra from mid nineties if you chop the front nose .

I'll be consistent with what I've said for years........another retro Camaro will be a huge failure. If you see one you can hang a sign out that says GM was too afraid to be great or worse has no clue how to be great. A 2nd dip into the retro bowl, particularly into the 70s off all things, will send a huge message of lack of courage and vision.

But JMO

I think we're safe from that. I just really like that drawing. I would like to see some rounder lines in the sixth gen though. I think an evolution of the fifth gen would be playing it safe and that's what the only clues we've heard are saying, however unreliable.

A source on the GM Inside News site had this to say:

Quote:
I would agree that the design is more evolutionary than revolutionary. Whether people think they should've done more will be interesting. Looks good on the smaller platform.
He later goes on to say:

Quote:
I'll admit to seeing a version of it....that is all.
So....take that how you will.

You know, it never occurred to me to post this observation in that thread, but he does mention a 'smaller' platform. If it's visibly smaller, maybe that's a good indication that it's actually on the ATS wheelbase.

Michael Bay is also quoted as saying he saw the car (maybe he did, maybe he didn't, maybe it was just a concept version...who knows) and he says it was smaller.
