They could never get rid of the V8 they could make a v6 with better hp and tq then a v8 and still people who need to compensate will complain about it not being a v8

Makes perfect sense to me to add this engine to the GM lineup...put her in trucks, cross overs, mid sized-SUVs, cars, and seeing it in the Camaro would be awesome too.

420 to 440 HP like the article is guessing is pretty easy with the 3.6. Most TT V6 guys here are running around 500 crank HP and thats only cuz the fuel can't keep up with more power...but there are solutions for that around the corner it seems.

like we buy the v8 because it has more power.lol. its not compensating. i want a camaro with a lot of power, the v6 doesn't do it for me. idk why some think like you.

ya once GM makes a v6 that has some power for us guys who are willing to spend more money. they maybe that comment will be valid.

I would not be surprised if the highest performing 6th gen Camaro will be powered by a twin turbo V6. GM has already said the Alpha platform is designed to support an inline 4, V6, and *MAYBE* a V8. As a V8 powered, RWD car enthusiast, I hate to think about the 6th gen Camaro having no V8. However, I'm certain a TT V6 will perform equal or better than the current SS (and maybe ZL1)......especially considering the 6th gen Camaro will weigh less overall. The certain MPG increase helps too.

Don't forget the sound, I've heard cars with an I4 puts out a better sound than a Chevy V6....

I think a TTV6 sounds like a great idea but no V8 means no muscle car.

Think of it this way, a V8 is like that guy you know in school who's worked incredibly hard to get fit and buff, a TTV6 is like that guy you know in school who is on steroids....

I wonder if our parents made the same stupid comments about a V8 directly correlating penis size because I know I'm comfortable with my junk

ya i was going to say sound, but i feel that would start another debate. when really we are talking about a fundamental aspect of buying a performance car. like i did not buy a camaro because it had a v8. in fact i looked at a 370z and g37 with a v6 WAY before i ever layed eyes on a camaro. its the idea that performance came before, MPG and if it practical. so thats why i got a v8 in a camaro.

honestly from the beginning of my self buying a camaro, it was not the v8 or the GM made. it was the looks of the car which got my attention. then from there i found the v8 is what i wanted.

You can aways find a way to make it sound more aggressive it wont sound exactly like a SS or a v8 but I have heard some pretty deep throaty exhausts in a 6.

I don't want a throaty sound with a V6, there is not one modded V6 Camaro I have heard that sounds as GOOD or BETTER than a 350z/370z, they have the perfect grunt that any good sounding V6 should have.

I think almost everyone agrees, at least most SS owners that a V8 w/ DI is preferable.

Also, not to beat a dead horse, but I don't think anyone is suggesting that the TTV6 will be in the Camaro or that it will be the top mill available. Rather saying it is being developed right now, and w/ the coming 6 gen Alpha architecture it could be.

It's definitely going to have a v8 in it. Period.

Well things are shaping up very interestingly for the Gen6. I think we'll see both a V8 and a TT V6. The question is which will be the SS and the Z/28. I don't see the TT V6 being the standard engine in the base model.

GM could be trying to gain some V6 respect by using the TT V6 in the Z/28. There's plenty of pent up demand and if the performance numbers and the right sound is there; it could be a real winner for all of us.

there won't be $6/gal gas in today's dollars for the foreseeable future. Already the price is high enough that oil sands and shale oil is feasible, and there is a shit-ton of that everywhere. It shouldn't go much higher than it is right now.

If they put a TT V6 in it, that's the one to get. Turbo motors respond to bolt-ons better.
