CTS-V weight confirmed at 4145lbs
http://media.cadillac.com/media/us/e...222-cts-v.html

How does this affect your guesstimates?

Edit
4 door luxury sedan with 8 speed automatic and slightly detuned LT4 engine delivering 640hp sharing wheelbase with the ATS though wider front and back!

Im thinking a 3800lbs camaro SS with a manual is doable.

The CTS is longer and wider than the ATS. I think the SS can end up in the low 3700 lbs range.

What's with all the guesswork on the weight? Here's the ATS dimensions straight off the Cadillac website:

Quote:
DIMENSIONS
Get useful size and dimension data and other technical specifications for ATS Sedan.

DIMENSIONS 3.6L Premium
Curb Weight (RWD) 3461 lbs
Keep in mind this is the curb weight for a 4-door. Not a coupe.

Quote:
2014 Camaro Coupe Models & Specs

Dimensions 2LT
Base Curb Weight 3802 lbs
So the current V6 Camaro 2LT is 341 lbs heavier than the ATS V6, which again, is a 4-door. To give you an idea of how much weight an options package can add, the 2LS Camaro only weighs 3702 lbs. That's a base auto V6 without all the trimmings.

The 1SS is listed at 3908 lbs, which shows a 200lb increase for the V8 trim.

This is all off the Chevy website if you want to check the numbers.
http://www.chevrolet.com/2014-camaro...imensions.html

I think it's safe to say the next Camaro V8 can come in under the 3700 lb weight of the new Mustang GT. Not by much, but it can get there.

The coupe is heavier than the sedan. Just throwing that out there as I'm not sure which way you're going with the 4 door statements and weight. I believe ATS v6 coupe is around 3,530 pounds. The LT1 is also heavier than the LS3.. I still think we're looking at about a 3750 or so pound Camaro SS.

Do you think it's going to be heavier or lighter?

I don't think that we have a detuned LT4 in the CTS-V at all but I do think its just intake and exhaust plumbing differences that contributed to the slightly lower hp and torque figures.

That number comes directly from the GM press release.

I agree. 10 HP and 20 TQ is not much, that could be intake routing or exhaust routing, or combo of both.

Wasn't the last gen CTS-V's curb weight around 4220lbs.? If that's correct then we're looking at a good 75lb loss with an excellent gain of 84hp and 79ft.lb.

Though their styling isn't necessarily to my taste, this looks to be, from a specs point of view, one outstanding vehicle.

As for how this effects estimates for the next Camaro's curb weight? I'm not sure. But seeing a loss from this (wholly different) car moving from the old Sigma II to Alpha, even if only 1 or 2 percent, is a good thing.

4204lbs for a sedan is what i could find.

Pretty cool that they are loosing weight rather than gaining as the rest of the performance vehicles from ford bmw and others are doing..

Awesome..

Im lookkng at the exterior dimensions of the new and old ctsv sedan..
The new sedan has gained 1.2" wheelbase, and 6.3" lenght. Height is 0.3" lower and width is 0.2" narrower.

Overall the vehicle has gained size quite considerably, yet, has lost weight 59lbs at the curb..

That is pretty damn impressive.

Do we know what wheelbase the 2016 camaro will have yet? Or is it merely rumours?
This could help shed some light on possible curb weight

Wheelbase should be closer to ATS's Alpha, what that means for interior space I don't know. The only thing is, looking at the new CTS-V for example, the trim levels with the heartier drivetrains aren't losing the weight that the lesser trims look to with the move from Sigma II to Alpha. Most likely due to heavier chassis and drive train components designed to cope with large outputs. But even slight losses are infinitely better than any gains.

lt1 with magnetic ride.
aluminium panels /plastic everywhere to cut down weight..by 2-300lbs..

the 4th gen had plastic fenders/doors and fiberglass hoods.. still decent weight.
