Detuned automatic 2LS ? Number one upgrade?

Hey a salesman told me the automatics were actually detuned to about 300 hp vs 323 for standard . is this true?

if so wouldnt that be the number one upgrade as it should only be a computer detuning correct? a corrected tune and a little more should be good for realistic 330 hp?

if not no 1 upgrade should definitely be a shorter set of rear gears cuz the auto does suffer from taller 292 rear gears[ i assume in hopes to make up some of the gas mileage drifference].
A set of 355 gears should really wake up the auto shouldnt it?
is that size available on our lfx engine/auto combo?

I believe it's just because the Manuel losses less HP% then the automatic from the fly wheel

It's 323 crank HP regardless of transmission. There may be a slightly higher HP loss transferred through the automatic transmission, vs the manual transmission.

I wouldn't be super concerned about the gears. The person with the #1 bone stock LFX time(s) at the drag strip has a 2LS with the 2.92 gears.

But to answer that question, yes, Richmond does make 3.55 gears for the v6 rear end, BUT they will only fit the 1LT/2LT (3.27) carrier, and they will not fit the 2.92 carrier.

hey, not sure what to make of your lfx info.

i understand it requires a diff carrier to mount that 327 or 355 gear set but does that mean that diff carrier will or wont fit in our lfx rearend?

also whats this about no tapshift while in m mode?
I havent used it much but i seemingly can force downshifts and rev to redline before upshifting with my paddles in m mode?
was this not previously doable?

or are you saying driving aggressively without using paddles in m mode enables much higher shift points or something like that?
