I am probably going to write an article about my ordering process however as it is truly unique and extremely mind boggling all at once. I might submit it to my local paper as they could use a good story here in boring old Charleston. |

Two big events:
-Washed the camaro and gave it its first wax job yesterday -Odometer turned over 1500 miles today Got 25 MPG during a 1000 mile round trip to northern Minnesota. Pretty good for a 6.2L 426HP V8. Lots of looks and lots of questions. Love the car! |

But my wife is have as much fun as I am. I went to California for a week for business. While I was gone, one of our kids friend (22 year old) stopped by an was drooling on the Camaro. So she gave him a ride in it. When she stomped on it, she said his eyes bugger out of his head. This week I got a speeding warning for doing 35 in a 25 ... luckily it was in our Suburban on the way back from Mass on Sunday. If it was in the Camaro he probably would have given me a ticket :(.

OK...now that it has been 9 months since anyone has posted anything in this thread, what has everyone done with/to their cars over this period of time? I've done a few small things such as finally getting the factory Hurst shifter I wanted when I originally ordered the car, but the plant didn't start dropping them in until TPW 8/23 (missed by 1 stinkin' week!). How is everybody's car running? Can we verify if it was a good production week?
Looking forward to hearing from some of you again...

Our Camaro has earned the nickname "Shark", probably because it's silver and looks menacing. It consistently delivers 24 MPG on the highway and is a comortable long-haul cruiser. I love the power and particularly love the sound of the V8 in higher RPM range. I've come to loathe the sometimes-mandated 1st-4th shift. I've logged only 8093 miles on it including two trips into northern Minnesota and a longer 2000 mile round trip to parts of Montana.
I drove it throughout the long South Dakota winter and it did very well with the Continental Extreme Contact DSWs I installed right after I took reciept of the car. We plan on driving it as far south as Corpus Christi sometime in September. I'm looking forward to that. No mods other than the tires and a brushed nickel gas filler hatch. |

Nice thread revival! I suspect people that have subscribed to the thread will check in with updates, it's fun to see what people have been up to over that time. I've been thuroughly enjoying the Camaro, although not as much as i would have liked. It's parked across town in my mom's garage because we are building a new home (with a 3 car garage! finally!!!, Camaro love ). We've also been living in the my in-laws basement which has been testing....a little bit of this gets us through. We are set to move in two weeks and my Camaro will then be united with the new permanent parking spot.
I have been doing a bit in the modding department, i just couldn't keep it stock. The LS3 screams with longtubes and a full exhaust, i highly recommend. Since new, i've put in the following mods, all of which i've been extremely happy with: MGW short throw shifter Skip-shift eliminator Longtube Headers: XS Power Full 3" exhaust: XS Power, Thunderbolt high-flow cats welded in-line Magnetic oil drain plug Halltech Yellow Jacket CAI No tune yet, trying to keep the factory warranty in tact....at least i can argue with the bolt-ons i have above, it's not a significant change that could lead to failure of drive-line components. I've specifically targeted the modifications for the only areas of the vehicle which i thought could have/should been done better by GM. I know they had to leave those areas to the ZL1. I've driven her to Road America this year so far for the Grand-Am race in which a Camaro took the podium for the GS class, which was awesome. I also met Camaro Scotty at the race and he organized and managed a 1st annual Camaro Corral at Road America. Corvettes have a permanent spot at turn 3 which i typically hang out at but it was so great to see a strong turnout from WI, MN, and IL Camaro's at the track. Next weekend is Car Craft Summer Nationals at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds which i will be at and helping with the SCCA autocross event as well. Highly recommend that if you're close to MN, it's a worthy event to check out. Following that it's the ALMS race back at Road America in the middle of August. Then, the snow flies in MN. HA! j/k. But, essentially, it's depressing around september because that signals the end of another driving season in MN. Lots of rambling but that's what i've been up to with the Camaro. Hope everyone else has enjoyed the car as much as i have. I've had zero issues with it, even with all of the mods. Take care guys!

Nice to be back on this thread!!
No moding here. Everything still stock. I've got 17k on it in 10 months. Daily driver, even through the winter with a set of rims and snow tires. I drive it when ever I can. "No trip is to short, no trip is too long!!"

Glad to see I'm not the only one still here. My car is still bone stock (and will probably stay that way). I seem to spend my time reading about the mods I would like...just not doing them.

My car was born exactly 2 years ago today. Started out wanting to keep it bone stock, but got bit by the mod bug. Have Kooks LT coated stepped headers w/high flow cats on order as my next mod and after they are installed, I think the mod bug will abate. Car at that point will be about where I want it to be. Cam and/or blower is just not in the budget/cards at this point. May begin some suspension mods though...see I just can't stop!!!!
