Just to be clear. The Mustang was the original Pony Car. The Camaro was a response to it and in the same class (Sporty Coupe). The very first Camaro off the line was not a V8. It is very hard to argue that the number of cylinders defines the segment.

That's true...the 67 base car came with the I6....but the car that defined the brand, and made Camaro the legend it is to this day....was the 602 Z28's produced with the 302/4speed. I think when you go to any car show, race, auction, etc.....the dominant cars are the V8 models. Mustang and Camaro. Every once in a while you find a guy who built a 6....and its pretty cool, but not the norm. And not what defines the class. The only place I ever see more V6 (or older 4cyl) cars, is in the boneyard

I see more V6s on the road. GM says they sale way more. We may all have our definition of the class, but the manufacturers seem to lump them all together. You can get track/performance packs for Mustangs that don't have V8s, so why not Camaros?

Not sure why the 1LE would not be available on the yet to be built Turbo-4s....
The 1LT and the 2LT I-4s are the base models and the V-6 is an option. Other than engines, the cars are identical...So a 1LE package is an option on an option?....

Not sure why the Camaro I-4 was left out of the 1LE loop....

This is just a guess, but it sounds like the demand for the LTG has been high, so the Camaro team had to wait in line for them. They simply may have not had them early enough to do testing and roll it out with the V8 and V6 version. Maybe (finger's crossed) they will offer the package later this year.
