I would not be incredibly surprised to see them bring the Z/28 nameplate to a much more reasonable price point (I think someone said that was a goal, that $75k was too much, and theyd rather give a little less car for a lot less money) and replace the 1LE option. With the CAI, some increased stiffness, and upgraded suspension geometry, I could see a stock car spank a GT350, and be close to a 350R for a much lower price.

You can't assume those prices. The entire 5th gen 1LE package was 3500 dollars. It got you wheels, tires, transmission, rear gears, upgraded fuel pump, suspension components, splitter, hood wrap and alcantera short throw shifter and steering wheel. I'm sure if you bought all those individually, it would be well over 3500 dollars.

So it would essentially be a package for those that track the car? Feel like the SS is already there especially with the optional brake upgrade. Sounds like an interesting package.

We will see what happens soon enough. I would have waited for the 17 since it's the 50th, but my old lease was up. Looking forward to seeing what they offer there.

For now. There will come a day when the auto will be just as good, if not better than the stick. That is the inevitable march of progress. All the exotics are losing their stick options, that will trickle down, especially as CAFE gets more tenuous.

How many exotics are running torque converter automatics? Most, if not all, are running dual clutch transmissions.

The Z/28 was never intended to sell as much as the SS. The Z/28 is sitting because GM built too many.

No, it didn't sell like the SS did because it was twice the price...but it wasn't meant to. It's a niche car.
