What are the chances of a 1LE in 2017?

The reason I ask is because I'm not interested in a Z-28 or ZL1 I've decided. I'd rather go with a 2SS and add A/M parts. I would however spring for the 1LE package. I'm going to be buying a 2SS in the coming months and would hate to buy a 2016 if the 1LE package came out in 2017. As hard as it will be (mentally) I don't mind waiting until the 2017MY for a 1LE but if I know it's not coming, then I'll pull the trigger on a 2016MY 2SS shortly and not wait for the 2017MY. I can't imagine anything will change between the 2016 and 2017 model year as far as options or technical specs.

GM looked to be testing a possible 1LE at the Ring back in September. I wouldn't be surprised to see one announced early next year.

Was that ever confirmed to *probably* be a 1LE package? I thought it was more than likely a Z-28 or ZL1 but I could be wrong.

There were two cars. One was the LT4 car with a modified front fascia and new hood. The other was a standard SS front fascia and hood but looked like it had wider tires and bigger brakes.

There were cars with different fascias.. One was obviously Supercharged as well while the other wasn't.

OK Thanks. Correct me if I'm wrong but you could piece together a 5th gen 1LE if you wanted to correct? There were not body modifications such as wider fenders or 1/4 panels right?

My God, this may be a sweet car, but a fully loaded, optioned 1LE could push 60K? GM might be overestimating consumer demand at their desired price point. Sales numbers win the next 1-3 years ill be interesting. I wonder if massive rebates will start to be offered at the end of this model year.

Correct. The 1LE was a performance package on the SS. Although it was a $3500 option, to add the parts individually to a "regular" SS would cost 3 times that at least. There are many threads on this very topic on Camaro5.

The 1LE package adds the lightweight 20 inch rims from the Camaro ZL1 wrapped in the same high performance Goodyear Eagle Supercar Gen 2 tires, a high performance suspension setup that includes larger monotube dampers, a larger anti-roll bar up front, a front strut tower brace, heavy duty rear shock mounts and other bits, unique body upgrades front to rear and some minor interior upgrades.
I think the rear is the spoiler and the front is the black louvered hood and front splitter. I believe fenders are the same.

If you're thinking package conversion for some racing bodies... For the cost of the parts for the '15 1LE (shocks, springs, 4 pot brembos, roll bars, strut bracing, ZL1 steering wheel, half-shafts, and the biggie... a different transmission - Tremec TR6060-MM6) then you'd be better off just getting a 1LE to begin with.

I'd wager closer to 2018. late 2018.

the car is too new to be already pushing for a 1le, I don't want some hastily designed performance variant, that could result in some recall nightmares. give it time, people.

I would think with with the 50th anniversary 2017 should have a performance model in the works.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND WAITING until at least spring ... The car shows will see an announcement by GM ... I am hoping when they release the Z, the will also release the 1LE as a one-two punch to counter the Shelby 350 and the 350R

I'm in the same boat.... I really want a 1LE. The 5 th Gen 1LE was considered a better handling car the the ZL1 it took its parts from.... That not me talking... That's Randy Pobst and guys like him....

As for parting one out.... Let me run a few numbers by you.

The 5th Gen 1LE was a $3500 option...

If you tried to buy the wheels from the 1LE it would cost you… Almost $5,000 full retail... That before RUBBER for those wheels, Alcantara steering wheel, Alcantara shifter, the GORGEOUS BLADE spoiler, front splitter, and the required suspension pieces.

As for Prototype m660, it's definitely naturally aspirated, so it uses the same hood extractor design of the SS.... The supercharged version needs a lot more heat extraction, hence the CTSV/ZO6 style and massively sized extractors...

Most people don't realize that heat extraction is one of the key limitations/factors of sports car design.

Also 9/29/14 was the timeframe for the 2016 SS showing up at the 'ring which would line up with a 2016 ship date for a 2017 model; If these follow similar time-tables I would expect a March announcement. (thanks Sledge for the timetable on the sticky)

If you want the 1LE to use as a track toy, awesome; but I want MRC, and Im guessing it will have a more aggressive suspension which I don't need. Ill be grabbing the wheels and bracing and a CAI (with tune!) and thatll do it for me and my totally-not-a-1LE
