The Camaro perceived as a track car

I received a safety bulletin from Simpson Racing in my email. And their header image features a Porsche, a couple Corvettes, and a 1LE going through a bend.

It was cool to see it in a "random" setting. I really think the Camaro is earning legitimate credibility as a track toy.

I suspect that the gen 6 1LE will post track times as good or better than the gen 5 ZL1, and astonishingly close to the gen 5 z/28.

Will definitely beat the ZL1, will be damn close to the Z28 too...

And I think track consumables will be a lot cheaper than the z/28 or most track cars it will compete against.

Very cool indeed, but important to note is a 1LE, and not a standard SS, not that there is anything wrong with an SS.

I had one at RA some years back in my 5th Gen be slow to point-by.. He even complained in the driver's meeting after about Camaros treating him like he was slow.

I have a nice video of me leaving him in the dust up the front straights.. (But, I guess I was kinda cheating with having a Maggy and all)

I was in a group that had a first time Porsche guy....new car...matching jumpsuit...At the first download meeting he was asked why he didn't point anyone by to pass, and he said with serious straight face..."I drive a Turbo Porsche, it's the fastest car out there!"...lol...He didn't think the passing rules would apply to him....

Nothing new...lol...A lot of us thought it was legitimate as a track toy several years ago...A couple years back at Willow Springs (Big Willow)...
