Maybe quicker out of the whole because of gearing but with such close weight the stang should pull around it since it makes about 30hp more.

Back to the original topic. I think the magazines should be able to run 12.5s with the new car. Having more hp along with lighter weight doesn't guarantee that you'll get the power to the ground. However, I don't think a 12.2 or 12.3 would be out of the question in the hands of a capable driver, on a nicely prepped track on a great air day.

The power to weight ratio of the new SS is around 0.12431 based off 455hp and a curb weight of 3660. the Zl1 is 0.14077 so the SS will be close but a solid 12.3 hell even a 12.5 is a solid improvement for the SS! I think the 0-60 is going to be crazy fast or in the low to mid 4s... traction and smaller wheels plus the 8 speed will determine that. I am getting very excited for 2017-18... another way to look at it is.... get your base weight for the new SS... so lets say 200lbs - 3860lbs (crub weight of the current SS) gets you 3660... cars 3000-4000lbs will roughly see 10hp per 100lbs. soo 455hp+20= 475hp... so basically you should have time similar to a current SS running 475hp (at the motor) with this theory. so all in all you're seeing a increase of 426hp to 475hp ... so 39hp increase over the previous gen. Find a current SS with intake, exhaust and a tune and you have the new camaro numbers...maybe... Last edited by BigBlock427; 05-17-2015 at 02:40 PM. |

So it'll be the V6 vs the EcoBoost turbo 4, Chevy will be taking the win.

Well I said 3.85 which is quite a difference, but, we will during that hero run, which is why I allowed for variations in time.

Whoa, I'm a Mustang celeb now, one of the graspers over there quoted me!
Yes Todd, high 11s near 120 for a hero run, stock, within 1 race season. The norm, no way. That will be lower 12s and probably 116 for a good run. Of course they manipulated the quote to be mid 11s... And near 120 means almost, as in, 119. Quote it guy! |

For me to be interested it will have to be stock at least as fast as the stock 392 Dodges. So that would be 12.4 or better. A stock 5th gen SS did run a 12.588 once, a hero run. I mean a time anyone could run with a little practice. If so 11s are going to be possible with a CAI and DRs.
Given the weight promises and the power that should be easy with the automatic. But only time will tell.
