It would set a few codes and default to running in "open loop"

I've seen guys do it, and others say don't do it. Just wanted to get to the bottom of it. Thanks for the input !

Sorry OP, I guess I wasn't 100% correct. There are special considerations and a good bit of tuning required to run SD reliably. The car does have the abilty to run SD within the OEM pcm too and will switch to SD if there's a MAF issue.
You tune boosted cars on speed density so the tune can adapt to different boost levels without a retune.

You CAN tune boosted cars on speed density but it's mostly to get away from the restrictive MAF's. You still need to monitor the O2 sensor when changing boost settings to make sure you're not running too lean or rich though. For the OP, I don't know how well it will work for his situation. Even though it will be temporary, i'd imagine the OEM VE tables for SD in the PCM are set to a stock vehicle with zero mods. He's changed the VE of his engine with LT's and proably a CAI. Those may be enough to make him run lean. I have no idea how much leaway is built into the VE tables but I know SD needs to be retuned for pretty much any changes you make to the engine.
