I wonder if a failed pump has been analyzed to see if there was a manufacturer failure

Yes it's been discussed in many previous pages by Katech and others - the metal ring of the pump housing stress cracks and eventually fails (explodes). There is no evidence the '19+ pump is any different

If the 19+ is no different, shouldn't we start to see these failing as well? I hope that this gets elevated and we can get some sort of warranty extension.

Won't happen (warranty extension) - fortunately it's a relatively small number of pumps. Make sure you warm the oil completely before getting on the throttle. Get a Katech wet sump pump installed if you plan to keep the car a long time
It's this and the valve guide issue that seem to be the primary weak points on the LT4, otherwise it's a solid engine. Ring sealing/blowby aren't great though for only 9 psi |

If you catch it early enough (the 10-20psi drop stage), there will be nearly no damage to your engine in most cases. We have a 2021 come into the shop with a broken oil pump, he bought the car new, had an oil pressure drop, and had it immediately towed to us. We tore into the shortblock to check it out, and all bearings were in phenomenal shape. We could have put it together as-is, but the customer opted for Clevite bearings, ARP mains, ARP rod bolts, and ARP side bolts. For anyone that is concerned with a factory oil pump failure, drive your car as you would normally, and just watch after your oil pressure. If you see any unusual large drops that stay low, i would park the car until you choose a direction for repair |

If I see 10psi pressure drop... Will Chevy service do the work or "it works fine? drive"?

If you catch it prior to failing (low oil pressure), your engine likely has 0 damage and can be saved with an oil pump replacement |

I've read a lot of this but not every page. Would it be fair to say this is more of a ZL1 issue rather than SS? Current have a C8 and I'm already terrified of the DCT issues that have been plauging people. Currently thinking of grabbing a 1SS 1LE 2023 manual before they dissappear but don't want to worry about both cars having issues

They did make revisions, there are 7 part numbers I believe. So I do think the later model years have improved pumps, but they still have chances of failure. Just at a lot less probability. Every time GM releases a new version, we buy one and test it like the rest. We have been able to break every pump we have stressed so far. The newer pumps are harder to break, but they still break.
