A car has to be a Ferrari in order to care about it? Yeah that's a good rule. Hell 3/4" of the people on this site take better care of their cars than Ferrari owners. OP re-explain the point of the car to her because it sounds as though she's beginning to lose respect for monetary value.

I was never that OCD but my wife refused to drive my car. I'm glad to say that phase didnt last to long and if something happens to the car, it's just a car. It can always be fixed or replaced.

Bottom line: Dont make the car bigger than your wife

"Your car?" When you're married everything becomes, "our." He's going to find that out when she files for divorce.

I used to try to keep mine in the garage and only drive it to work (reserved parking) or somewhere I could see the car (restaurant) while parked.

Then I realized I was not enjoying the car to its potential. I drive it more now but I am still careful on where I park. But I have a great PDR guy if needed. My wife has full rights to take it when she wants, but chooses not to as she wants to keep it in great shape also.

But it is just a car. I know some of us go to shows and things like that and we want to keep the car perfect, but you have to enjoy the car, that is why you bought it!

Drive it, be careful, and enjoy it!

Let's not be silly. If everything in my house, including the bank accounts, were "ours" we would live in a trailer with a spare trailer for clothes.

Get a stated value insurance policy for your garage queens, which places restrictions on where and how you can drive them. That way these conversations never come up.

A car we would we own forever and pass to our children, So we purchased our 2013 2SS/RS, which I keep in the garage and it is always emasculate. All was good in the beginning, then she decided she wanted to start driving it to work on Fridays, (100 Miles RT) that went on for about two months then one Friday it was raining and I told her she could not drive it in the rain. Of course she didn't agree, but drove her VW instead. Then not long after I mentioned that we purchased this car for pleasure, not a commuter. She stopped driving it to work, but always makes jabs about it. Today (Saturday before Christmas) she wants to drive it to the mall, I told her I was not comfortable with that, as today is the busiest shopping day of the year ad I am in far of door dings, There will be zero empty spaces. (Normally we park in the back 40). So of course that did not set well, and she said "let's just sell it". So here I am, my 2013 has 8000 miles on it and in pristine condition. Any advise?

Sounds like she only drives it and enjoys it - great. You've been doing all the work.

Now, if she wants to keep doing that as a commuter/more than you guys originally agreed..show her how to keep it in such good condition, cleaning etc. All the stuff I'm sure she takes for granted.

Repair stuff when it happens..because it will happen, that's the problem with driving. Also, you guys may want to spring for some clear bra based on mileage of driving she wants to do. It is going to eat up the unprotected paint.

Good luck.
