Also for people pointing out trucks, that's a completely different market and a good chunk of those went to fleet. Same with the W-body Impala Limited that's still in production clear through 2016, fleet only.
It is a different market, and I didnt say its a good idea or think it will happen. The 2007 classic Silverado sat on lots right next to the new body...wasnt for fleet only. I suspect it has something to do with contracts to build the previous body not being over and the new one being out earlier than originally planned

I don't see that happening . Keeping tooling going for two different generations is very expensive.

I could see the ZL1 and Z/28 continuing for a short while until proper replacements are finalized.

Nothing else makes sense...the 1LE would probably be matched by the 6th gen.

Isn't retooling more expensive?

I doubt retooling is going to be needed for the change. A lot of different dies with small changes to the production line.

why would they want to keep making the 5th gen after the 6th gen comes out? that would be a bad business decision. you mention the beetle still being made, it is for a select market in a select country. if GM did keep the 5th gen alive it wouldnt be sold here cause it would take away sales of the 6th gen. anyone who would rather have a 5th gen in 2016 can buy a used one, there are a lot of them out there.
