http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/iraq...lujah-39472052

This is incredible footage of one bad ass plane shot at 120 mph from inside a Gen 5 Camaro, in Iraq.

But why was the steering wheel a Pontiac emblem?

Our unit supported the U2 system back in the late 60's/early 70's and the "chase car" was a '68 El Camino SS396.

When I lived in Coco Beaxh, FL I would surf a spot called 2nd Light which was right at the end of the runway at Patric Airforce Base and every so often during the early morning dawn patrol we be sitting in the line up and the U2 would take off and fly right over our heads, the thing was so slow during take off, the wings would bend up and it would almost look like it was going to fall from the sky. The darn thing is a flying glider with such a massive wing span.

Interesting story thanks for posting.

Heres an older link to article that covers the progression of the cars used...vids too... off Jalopnik;

http://jalopnik.com/5537629/the-140-...e-us-air-force

Says:

El Caminos were replaced with Mustangs with the SSP (Highway Patrol package) in 80's

Replaced with Fourth Gen Camaros w/ Special Trim then 05-06 GTOS with the LS2.

Older story so may not have picked up newer Camaros being used.

The Pontiac Camero is made over there.
Another instance of GM taking jobs overseas.

Thanks to the guys and gals on the ground and in the air!
