TIRERACK SALE Goodyear Eagle f1 g2 285/35/ZR20

They show out of stock but have a delivery date. I just received notification that my order shipped. $144 + shipping each on a close out sale for these tires brand new. Not a bad price at all for these brand new! Might be a good time to stock up.

Bingo... date is important if you are an 'aggressive driver'.

They will age out and become harder and less sticky just from sitting and aging.

Aging isn't as dramatic as you'd think. I get year old batteries and still get the same 5+ years out of it. Make the sensible decision based off cost.

From a theoretical tire science perspective, you are right...the tires do lose performance with time. If you are doing serious track days, DOT matters more to you than to others.

I've got rears at 4/32" that will be worn out within 3-4 months and i've been looking for a cheaper solution to that problem than spending $600 for the 315 Continental Extremecontact DW's i've got on the car now. There may be a few other guys here in a similar scenario who could benefit from the closeout price.

To reiterate the point some have made already, It probably wouldn't be a great idea to stock like 3-5 years worth of tires in the garage but you probably won't notice the difference if the tire sits in the garage for 6 months.

144 a tire??

Would this be OK for daily driving?
Do they have 305s also?

This is what I was trying to say. These are typically climate controlled facilities so the product isn't exposed to the stress's of normal weather.

They have 2012 date codes listed for $144. And have added 2013 dated tires for $199.

I guess the "fresher" tires are full price, $269. These are 285 prices.

In 305s they only have discounted 2012's. $214 ea.

Be aware that those are not the same tires that came on the 1LE. Those on sale are a 92Y load rating, not the 100Y. I believe these are the G:2's that came on the rear of the GT500

Very good catch. The 2012s are 92Y.

Good info. I wasn't aware they sold this tire in multiple load ratings. 92Y's will be fine for my daily driving but wouldn't cut it for aggressive cornering. I'm surprised they would throw those on the GT500. I'll let you know what DOT I got when the tire shows up. Sounds like it's going to be a little old.

The deeper you guys dig into it, it seems like Tire Rack really is just adjusting the price due to age and the load rating.

I just bought my 1LE used two weeks ago. My 285s are dated early 2012, I assume the OG fronts. My 305s are dated late 2013 / early 2014. I guess I will hammer on them this year so I can get something newer over the winter.

I just received my Kumho ECSTA PS91 285/35/20 for my 1LE wheels on Tuesday from Tirerack. Once installed, two of them where defective. Failed the Road Force test
(31 lbs/54 lbs). After contacting Tirerack, they're shipping out two new tires that will be tested prior to shipment, cover up to $25 per tire install fee, and gift card for any future purchase with Tirerack.
