The intake tract from a single tb into a dual plenum should aid in increased velocity. I guess my point being that twin tb's attached directly to the plenum will increase velocity into the plenum during tip in but at the cost of turbulence during full throttle. During full throttle, if the plenum inlet has the same area opening of the tb, the only difference in airflow will be turbulence caused by the blade...which generally isn't good. So if you can maintain the same velocity and remove turbulence... Not to mention the tuning requirements to overcome this...a larger tb could have been utilized vs the incorporation of two tb's and the tract tuned to maximize velocity into the plenum for better distribution. Does anybody know what the sizes of the dual tb setup is? It looks cool...

IMHO the area where you want to watch the airspeed is in the runners themselves including the heads. Air does not like to turn. It wants to go straight. So the slower the air moves until it reaches the runners the better.

you bring up a good point about air not liking to bend. dual TB's just seems gimmicky to me and why I'm hesitant to see the benefit from a setup like this. most of which are probably directly related to the tuning (and additional mods if any). even with a custom tune/ECU, the total cost is going to put it closer to $2000 when all said and done. oh well…just my opinion.

EDIT:

after further research…(its been a while since i've studied airflow-TB, Plenums, runner length…) having the dual TB's drawing air from the same point of origin actually slows the air down as it enters the plenum…at least thats what i've gathered. either way, still don't think the cost is worth the gain. hopefully they can prove differently tuning nothing other than for airflow/fueling for the TB. should be able to show the system lean out with a stock tune with the need to add fuel which would in-turn show a gain, validating that the IM alone caused an increase in power, not tweaking anything else in the tune. also a comparison in MAP readings from stock vs theirs.

Did see a sema show pic recently of a NRE X-ram setup with twin turbos.

Even if some of the dyno tests shown are not a true accurate comparison of 1intake to another, or if you think its ugly or bulky looking, the fact remains that NRE knows a lot about horsepower & their design was already something tried & true in more exotic engines & is superior in performance to a more restricted compact design.

I'm starting to think the Vararam is going to hit for the LS3 first.

The Vararam unit is like 2 to 3 years out... lol! That's the impression I got from Steve at Vararam when I spoke to him about it....

By that time almost everyone driving a modified 5th gen will probably be new on the forums after buying their used SS.

Last I heard they were expecting to deliver sometime in May. This was said by Vararam in March.

I'll believe it when I see it though...

Thus there is a hope that this product is marketed, because I would like to associate him with Vararam. Because I think that the result could very interesting!
