Zl1 hood

Has anyone seen anybody buy a zl1 hood off of ebay? I want to buy it because the price is sorta reasonable, but want to see more than 1 person have it done. Im surprised not many people haven't done it, and im curious as to why they havent. If anyone has seen pictures or something, please post.

I couple of people have it. If you still have the SS fascia then you're in luck because the cowl lines match those of the SS. If you have the ZL1 fascia then the lines don't match. I've heard nothing but good reviews about the hood though. If I didn't have the insert already, I would probably go that way.

I thought the insert costs a fortune? Maybe it's just the Carbon Fiber insert that costs so much?

A ZL1 hood would be cool though, especially if the same airflow from the ZL1 could be achieved. If it's just static, I'd rather go with a different hood then.

The one he is talking about is an aftermarket one off of eBay. Im not sure if it is functional, I don't think it is.

The GM ZL1 inserts are expensive $3k-3.5k. Then you still have to buy the hood.

Bought inserts are carbon fiber. One is exposed and the other is painted black. The painted one is probably the ones that didn't come out good enough to be exposed so they painted them black. But yes you have to get the insert and then the hood.

I thought I read that the zl1 hood is only $750. Does that not include the insert?

Xedes : No insert on ZL-1 hood, they are separate.

Ehhh, that sucks, like I said I'd really want it to be functional.

Nice combo of rides you have! Looks like a lot of fun!

But if you order a ZL1 without the Carbon Fiber package the insert is plastic right? Not painted CF correct?

And yeah that's what I remember being the pricey part. Hard to believe the insert costs more than the hood!

All ZL1 inserts are CF, the black one is just black paint over the CF. My guess is they use the less than perfect CF weave ones and paint them black.

The black ones are a lil cheaper

I'm surprised they don't just make 'em out of plastic. That's cool they're CF. I personally would probably just get the painted one and save a little cash.
