Good Luck in your search
Lets put it like this. Performance wise a 2017 to current year model ZL1 all perform the SAME, M6 or A10. 2018 ZL1 1LE to current year model all perform the SAME, M6 or A10.

Yes there are appearance differences and changes with homelink, etc but looking from a performance standpoint only. Every ZL1 performs exactly the same for all year models.

There is no 1 year ZL1 that is the better version.

To answer the OP. Just do your regular maintenance and the car will be fine. There is a woman on a Facebook ZL1 group that has nearly 215k miles on her 2017 ZL1. Yes, ~215,000 miles! All she has done is regular maintenance.

OP don’t fall for the used hype.
I dumped my 21 and ordered a 2022.
My 21 was a Chinese Virus Lockdown build.
Nothing but Gremlins..
Believe what you want.

To me the Hellcat was the more comfortable, practical, daily cruiser and the ZL1 was more of the weekend, track car. Neither have great visibility but the charger/challenger are easier to see out of and feel roomier inside. Both generally dependable modded or stock, though there can be sporadic issues with either. I did have a weird fuel system issue in my ZL1 with only 800 miles which required a tow. If you get a used Hellcat be aware of the common supercharger failures pre 2018 (crappy supercharger bearings). Both can be modded to be pretty fast though the the Hellcat make power easier. The ZL1 is much more track ready from the factory and around superior performer. Both have similar straight line performance (the ZL1 may even be a bit quicker) on paper but the Hellcat felt faster and more exciting accelerating imo.

If I were to get another ZL1 it'd me a manual vert or ZLE for the weekend/track.
You sound like more of a hellcat person to me. I'd recommend thoroughly test driving both to see which suits you the most.
I've had both also and generally agree with all this. I had a manual Challenger and my ZL1 is manual. The Hellcat felt faster/more exciting in acceleration but honestly I think it was just the supercharger whine lol, it is so much louder. It felt like a big waffling boat in turns though, even with coilovers/sways/strut braces. The ZL1 is a much better all arounder, feels a little slower in acceleration but far superior when it has to turn even on stock suspension. If I had to buy again I'd buy another manual ZL1 without question. In fact I often choose to drive it over my R8. The R8 is fast and handles like a go-cart, but it's too clinical and precise. The AWD really never lets you get in trouble and never feels like it's going to get untidy, the ZL1 definitely feels like it'll punish you if you don't respect it and makes it more exciting to hooligan around in.

Naw, we used to call them "Monday morning cars." Things made by tired/hungover humans having to do assembly line gymnastics won't be pretty. Back in the gen2 days you could pretty much guarantee that Camaros and Firebirds made at Norwood the morning after a Bengals home night game would have all kinds of weird issues Some cars are just cursed.

We have heard that a R8, C6 ZR1 owner say the ZL1 is there favorite car, this car is a bargain, to me the ZL1/ 1LE is the blue collar worker car with a 911GT3 performance for half the price and all the fun.

I have to agree. While the ZL1 may provide unbeatable performance for the dollar it does not deliver the same experience and build quality as the Porsche.

You see this latest one from Savagegeese. It is a 992 GT3, just listen to it sing...

haha also very true, I may choose the ZL1 over the R8 on pure fun...def not in build quality. To be fair though it's a $200k car vs a $73k car, the trade off is not unexpected.

Had a 2018 ZL1 as a weekend cruiser/toy. I eventually traded it in with around 3000 miles on it or so on the clock. Never had any issue. The only time I ever took it to the dealer was for the 2 free oil change/tire rotations. Now GM got cheap with one free visit. I have a new 2022 ZL1. The A10 transmission is bullet proof. I had a 2012 Dodger Charger with the 5.7 as a company car. The engine was solid, but it was getting something repaired it seemed like every other week.

Maybe it's because I have no experience with higher levels of vehicles, but the interior of the ZL1 seems very nice to me. Yes, some surfaces are that scratchy hard plastic, but everything seems to be buttoned up quite nicely.
