Z28 or ZL1???
So the new Z28 was announced at 500HP and stripped for track perfection.
Which will be better/faster/lighter/stronger? Looks similar to the ZL1...but just a bit meaner Any new additional details please post. |

GM Authority states 3 seconds/lap faster than ZL1 on average.
Z28 is claimed to be 300 pounds lighter. http://gmauthority.com/blog/2013/03/...28-here-it-is/ Plus pics! |

My internet connection at work sucks. Did they mention anything regarding a ZL1 model for 2014 or is the ZL1 done?
Regarding whether one would buy the Z/28 vs the ZL1. It sounds as though the Z/28 has minimal creature comforts due to it being a track car (is it the more athletic brother of the 2013 1LE?), while the ZL1 is a strong all around car, i.e. touring, tracking, daily driving. Personally, I believe the ZL1 to be the better car, mostly due to the fact that I have had my 2013 ZL1 since November 2012 and already put on over 13k miles. It is comfortable, and very likeable. I do not see a 'more track ready' Z/28 to be as nice to drive. But, these are merely my opinions. Now, if only I had another $55k to blow on another Camaro... I find it hard to believe that -300lbs and some chassis rework will give the Z/28 3sec per lap than the ZL1.. Need more details on the Z/28.

well, i'd rather get the new Z28 than build up a 1LE, but overall i'd still get a ZL1, obtw: mine just came in today! VR, ECF, Suede, Nav, VIN 6406

I believe it has the 427 from the ZO6 vette. This is a track oriented engine setup, being naturally aspirated. I can believe the time difference.
