Custom Camaro Diecast? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I know they have a few colors in the ChevyMall of 1:18 scale Camaros.

But I'm wondering if there's anyone on the forums or anyone you guys know of to recommend that does custom diecasts?
For instance; taking one of the exisiting diecasts from the chevymall and repainting/decaling to match your real ride.

Would make a great Christmas gift!!

We did this last year as a christmas gift for my husband. The body shop we use for our resto shop did this for us. we gave them the paint code for the car and gave them the diecast and they painted it. it came out great and my husband loved it.

That's an idea, I could ask my regular local bodyshop about this.

If you don't mind me asking, about how much did it cost you? Do you have any pics of your diecast?

I just had to supply the paint. they were friends of ours. I will see if I can get a pic for you. we have an ABM camaro.

I bought a 1:18 diecast in silver. When I started unscrewing the parts I was amazed at how far it broke down. I have taped off the stripes on the hood (since my car is IBM with silver stripes) and trunk and have taped off the door interior so far.

I bought some of the IBM touch up spray paint from the chevy service counter.
I'll probably fine sand the surface before painting. I'm wondering if this is the best paint for it and if I should clear it after.

For anyone going to do this I would suggest getting the black car so spots that you mess up taping arn't as noticable.

Any tips would help.

If you're crafty you can buy spray cans with your exact paint from your dealer. These Diecasts can be completely stripped down. Scuff, sand and paint. There was a killer thread a couple years back about this. I'll try to find it.

for anyone who is interested in having a custom diecast made, i had one made for my husband by vchula@hotmail.com. this guy is amazing! incredibly detail-oriented, keeps you updated with emails and pics during the process. work is excellent. highly recommend.

i ordered it a little while ago, and apparently each one is priced based on what you ask for. out of respect for him and the many, many hours of work he put in, i'd ask that you ask him. i can tell you it was totally worth it!!!
