Production date on my 2SS was 5-01-2009 around 14:15 P.M. It was a big chunk of money at the time but 6 years later and she's all mine.
The Gen6 is nice but I'll pass. I'm a 1 thru 5 guy. |

I spent my life in the building materials industry. I have spent considerable time in Canada researching products and construction practices. I can tell you that there are intrinsic qualitative differences between the typical Canadian and US worker. Canadians tend to be much more quality oriented, i.e., get it right no matter how long it takes. Americans have been conditioned to do just the opposite. Production first--get the job done as fast as possible, and hope the quality is good enough.
My Canadian-built Camaro is a solid car. I've also owned two Canadian-built Chryslers. Good cars all. The UAW at LGR better up their game.

You can also get the build date from any GM dealer, it is listed in the Investigate Vehicle History section of GM's Global Connect system. If you send me an email with the last 8 digits of your VIN number I can look it up for you. Just be patient, I am working too...

It'll be the end of an era. :( Though there is the 6th gen, there was just something about our 10-15's.

I was kinda worried my car was going to go all Christine on me being built on that day. Waited for some oldies music to come on the radio, never has. I think I'm good.

Dear GM.
Thanks for building this car. You listened to all the people who begged for the concept that had been teased for years, and you managed to deliver without much compromise. Now it's up to us to keep as many of these on the streets as we can. Let's see if we can keep at least a few of these running for the next century or so, when gasoline vehicles eventually become hobbyist cars. :P Be careful guys. These are out of production. They aren't rare right now by any means, but let's make sure they never become so. |

I'm kind of happy to see the 5th Gen come to an end. To me, it means a lot of things...
It means we will be getting the new 6th Gen, which will be a great performer. It means our 5th gens now start the path to becoming classic cars. It should mean that prices for aftermarket mods will drop for the 5th gen. It means that no one else will ever be able to say they bought a brand new 5th gen! Thanks to the crew who built these cars! You guys did an outstanding job. I think the 5th gen Camaro will join the ranks of the Tri 5 Chevys, 1st Gen Camaros, and Corvettes as the most desired cars ever built by Chevrolet. You guys built classics! Not many people can say that.
