Well for me it's even more $ - since I own a SS. Based on the prices they offered in December, if I could buy that new 1SS-1LE for $42K which is $4K off sticker, with tax and reg that's $45K which is a net $15K upgrade cost for me. Lose the convertible, but add the 1LE features and it's a 5 year newer car, although my 2016 only has 14K miles and it looks literally brand new.
Which has me thinking about another alternative - what if I added a C5Z06 to the mix for $20K as my sports car coupe / part time track car. Put it on collectors insurance since it won't be driven much. Give up parking my truck in the garage is the biggest downside. but $5K more than swapping the vert for a 1LE and then I still get the best of both worlds - convertible plus a focused sports car. It's more of a collectors move - plus that C5Z isn't going to go down in value - if I play with it for 3-4-5 years I bet it's still worth $20K when I'm done. A new 1LE is going to depreciate at least $5K during that time - making it pretty equivalent TCO.... hmmm... |
