It depends what kind of a driver are you ? Are you the I like to beat on every car out there it's fun to scare super cars but I can't say that the ZL1 is worth 20k extra almost double the 1le. I got used to my Z51 and sometime
Wanted zero to sixty to be closer to zo6 speed but 1le is more useable |

I see folks posting one reason or another why they'd choose the 1LE "over" a ZL1...but ultimately, I think the REAL reason is going to be price. And there's nothing wrong with that. The 1LE is....again....a ridiculous good deal for what you get! |

This car will get heavy track duty. Total cost of ownership *should* be much much less. That an I have a long way to go in skill on the track to where I would need that fast of a car. This is plenty!

I would have to agree that it's price. After taxes on a ZL1 your talking north of $65K and that's a lot of car payment each month unless you've got the dough to pay for it outright or put a massive down payment on one, and most people just don't have that kind of money. If you're fortunate enough to, then by all means get a ZL1. For me a ZL1 certainly is cool and there are clearly some bragging rights the come along with the ZL1, however I just cannot justify paying that much for ANY vehicle, even though I think the ZL1 really is a good value for that level of performance.
I originally had my sights set on a basic 1SS Camaro but I've just got to have a 1LE now, it looks so good and it's very capable in its own right. I probably won't track it very often, maybe here and there but for me it'll just be a nice weather daily driver. A 1SS 1LE still isn't cheap but in my mind anyways, I just don't think the ZL1 is worth ~$20K more than a 1LE. I also think the 1LE is quite special as well, it looks great and it's different enough to set it apart from all other Camaros on the road (I've never even seen a 5th Gen 1LE on the road or in person), so it might not get quite the attention a ZL1 would, it's going to turn heads.

I could get a ZL1 if I wanted to, but I choose to have a nice, new daily driver every few years to go along with an SS 1LE, as appose to a meh daily driver and a ZL1 as I do a lot of driving. Plus, to be quite honest, I think the SS 1LE looks better. I prefer the SS 1LE wheels, spoiler, and even the front bumper. I do however like the ZL1 hood more...The SS 1LE would be a more capable autocross car too. It all comes down to your wants/needs. They are both awesome cars...

I'd only choose the 1LE if there was some racing series that put me in a more advantageous class compared to where they put the ZL1.
Otherwise, price would be the only other consideration.

First, I have not had an issue handling my ZL1's power on the street. My wife drives it, I let friends drive it. As long as you don't floor it, it won't jump up and bite you. If you go around racing or trying to do burnouts after cars and cofee, I recommend the Mustang. The regular SS and V6 and probably the T4 can get you into plenty of trouble if you don't treat them with respect. Second, no one needs 650 horsepower on the street. No one needs 455 hp on the street. No one even needs 335 hp on the street unless you are pulling a load. These are things we want. If you buy a 1LE and never take it to the track, I think you are missing out. You should buy whatever you like, but I also think you should take it somewhere that you can see what all that money buys. Same for the SS, ZL1, Z/28 etc. Take them out and enjoy the power and control they provide at least once. These are amazing machines.
