Remove spring and piston on PCV for Catch can?

The directions for my Mighty Mouse Camaro6 MILD catch can (SKU 3Q.06) for my 2024 LT1 say to "pop out the retainer and remove the spring and piston. Reinstall the bare housing. Some versions will need the end drilled out."

Huh?

Some of these catch cans do recommend removing the innards of the PCV valve. I don't have this installed, but I would follow the instructions, being careful not to crack the plastic PCV fitting when removing and reinstalling.

I would save the spring, piston, and retainer in case you want to reinstall them. I would not drill out the valve, as i believe that is only for high flow situations like modded vehicles.

And it is a pintle, not a piston, but whatever.

I did not remove the innards of the PCV valve when I installed my Mishimoto knockoff catch can from Amazon.

This post rang a distant bell... the 5th Gen Camaro 3.6L had DI, VVT, oil jets to cool the underside of the pistons, etc. After I took mine FI, I decided to do this modification. It may be what Mighty Mouse is referring to in their instructs(?).

I installed an Elite Engineering on my new to me 23 LT1 a couple weeks back. Simply removed the pigtail, as you've done in your pic. Crank goes to dirty side, intake to clean.
