How to properly downshift with paddle shifts (auto)
Everytine I'm using the paddle shifters when I downshift it makes a harsh lunge forward a harsh jerking movement. So I'm curious is there is a trick to doing it?

No, It's just the transmission doing what you tell it to do.
Your dash will indicate "shift denied" if the shift can't or shouldn't done.

Do you have your foot on the break or off?

okay.. start in first, bring the car up to third gear, then drop back to second. it'll turn AFM mode off for your trip until you put the car in drive, reverse, neutral, or park.
you can downshift to engine break (sitting around 2200 rpms) or if im going down a hill slowly, you can upshift to third/fourth and i think the car actually puts itself in neutral(rpms will be like 700) until you hit like 10mph then it'll shift you back to second gear.

Grammar/spelling police here. It's "brake". It's okay to brake your car... just don't break it.

Unless you are trying to slow down/stop really quickly, it kind of defeats the purpose of shifting down with the paddles. Try anticipating the stopping distance ahead of time and just down-paddle without your foot on the brake or gas. You'll get the hang of it with a little practice.

Best way to utilize the paddle shifters is to not use the paddle shifters.

Sorry... some things I just can't let go by. No offense intended. Plus, I do that kind of stuff all the thyme. Brain thinks one thing - fingers do another.

Actually I am enjoying practicing with the paddle shifters. The only issue I have is, my foot keeps trying to hit the (not there) clutch and my right hand keeps pulling off the wheel and grabbing the (auto) stick. Sometimes making me miss the shift!
