Yeah, I think they are still usable. But there are a few cracks that are bad enough I wanted a new set. They will be viable backups for an emergency. Thanks for the heads up anyway!

I went to Advance Auto and they have one that is a replacement but when you check it against a 2010 SS it says it a direct fit too.
We do offer offer replacement rotors for your vehicle here at R1 Concepts. Feel free to PM me if you're interested in a replacement set and I'll do my best to help you out. We are also a vendor on this forum as well.

You offer replacement rotors for ZL1s with 6 piston calipers and larger rotors? I'm not running stock SS brakes with 4 piston calipers and smaller rotors.

You currently have the ZL1 calipers up front right? If so, it's the same size rotors as the 09'-15' CTS-V front rotors just not 2-piece. The ZL1, SS, and CTS-v all use the same rear rotors and brake pads.

so on this topic. to revive it a little before i pull the trigger on OEM rotors. Are aftermarket rotors any good? like R1 and stoptech? anyone had any experience with these? or would OEM be the way to go with my budget? the higher end aftermarket 2 piece rotors are out of my budget. but 2 front OEM rotors i could probably swing. but if the R1 and Stoptech are the same just not a 2 piece, they are half the price.

I just did brakes on my 2011 SS, 58000 miles. Rotors looks great, just had a lip on them from wear. No metal on metal or anything like that. Took rotors into parts store to get them turned flat and guy said they were too thin!! I about blew my top because I thought he was trying to sell me new rotors. Come to find out, its not uncommon for these rotors to wear that much!!?? So its feasible that they need to be replaced at each brake job.

I didn't change them since they were still slightly over minimum thickness. I hit them with a die grinder with a scotchbright pad. Scuffed them up pretty good. They weren't warped or gouged, but next time they will definitely need to be replaced.

I got pads for front and rear for 160. BTW, anyone looking at doing this, I highly suggest you doing it yourself, it was one of the easiest brake jobs Ive ever done.

Mines has microcracks in it from the PO doing drag racing and not letting it cool down I believe.

OP is going to want/need different rotors other than stock SS rotors for his caliper upgrade. Outside of that, the rotors are going to wear faster by design for braking performance. I forget who it was but couple of years ago someone on here mentioned two sets of pads to the lifespan of one rotor. In my experience, that's looking about right for the front. My rears may make it through three sets of pads.

This gives me pause with the idea of upgrading to ZL1 rotors/calipers. Hmm, by the time I've added the reliability mods + a few upgrades I could buy a well sorted race bike that I've had my eye on...haha.

If I get back into trackdays as much as I used to be, I usually consumed 2 rotor sets/pads a year, or more (not to mention tires!). Meh who needs brakes? I'll keep the stock SS crap, and just go slow and/or adopt a 2lap/1lap cool down cycle. :/

I saw the Stoptech ZL1 2-piece rotors are 1300 at tirerack...ouch. I have had good luck with DBA rotors in the past, DBA5000 are great quality.

Anyone else? The DBA5000 like bkevind mentioned is just slightly more and slotted. So that could be an option as well. First time I've ever heard of them though...

All I'm seeing for the DBA5k is for the SS, not the ZL1. I'm curious if you found them?

I think I'm going to forgo a brake upgrade on the SS for the next brake job, and use DBA5k, stainless lines and some good pads and see how it goes.

Racing brake is another alternative and well touted by the frequent track fliers, @ $1200/pair for front rotor, $760/pair for replacement rings for the ZL1.

After all is said and done, the OEM rotors are very very good. Unless we have changed to a racing caliper, we use OEM rotors on all the cars our clients autocross or track.

StopTech is affiliated with Centric. Centric has been rebuilding OEM parts for a long time. They are a great source for OEM caliper upgrades ;-)
