I recently went from 18's to 20's and can tell you that I love the look....but the ride noise is worse. Not enough to make me go back but it is noticeable. If you like your wheels and want to stay at 18', I personally would recommend a Michelin or Continental. They seem to be fan favorites for performance and overall quality.

Another aspect with the 20's on mine-
Since cold weather, the tire pressure is all over the place.
Yesterday, took me 20 minutes to get tire pressure adjusted and reasonably balanced.
I had to actually drive it down the road, and watch the pressure monitor until I had a really good idea what I had to do.
Even sunlight on one side showed a pressure delta!!! Makes me want a set of 18's.

Is there a weight penalty with 18's vs 20's?

The OP won't have to worry with cold weather...he/she lives near San Diego.

For your tires, I assume you have the run flats, those ride a lot harsher than normal tires. Just get a set of normal tires and you will see a big difference.

Yes, just for the tires, going to 20s should be about 1 to 2 pounds heavier per tire. What can really add weight is the larger wheels depending on what you get.

I also might add ,when you do power adders and or go to the track there are so many more drag radial selections in the 18 inch rims as well. if you choose to go that route .

Yes, they're the run-flats.
For the tire change, should I get all season?
Get it realigned?
