Katech 427 LT1 SS 1LE Build Progression

Hey all! After years of lurking, heres my first post. As the title might give it away, my bone stock SS 1le is at Katech right now getting built with their 427 LT1. Build ideas were “Maybe I’ll just go heads/cam/FBO” to “what about a 416?” and then finally “Nah I gotta have a 427 from Katech”, after a few years if research, all with the idea of staying NA. Inspiration came from the LS7 in the c6z. After a few months of working with Zach and picking his brain, we are going for an extremely track capable build that will still maintain street manners. The car just got there so I dont have much to give right now but of course I will update the post as the build progresses. Zach has some sweet plans in the works so stay tuned!

Some parts of the build:

Katech 427 Street Attack with all its bells and whistles
Kooks 2” headers with HO cats
StainlessWorks Legends Series catback exhaust
FlexFuel
Few cosmetic things like ACS sideskirts
P3 Gauge
Additional Oil Cooler
BMR Delrin Inserts
BMR SwayBar Endlinks
BMR Upper/Lower Trailing Arms

Let me see about a RPS BC2 clutch…I hear good things.

Congrats Judy!!! I’m sure you’re gonna love it! Zack and the entire Katech team have been great to work with! Excited to watch yours come along.

As for Clutch/Pressure plate… I had a terrible experience with RPS BC2 clutch in my 900 HP C6 ZR1… for my 6th Gen Camaro went with LT5/ZR1 OEM Clutch/Pressure plate… but my RPS was 7+ years ago… a lot has changed since then, so let us know what you decide to go with!

Best regards,
Dave

Just a small update while things are getting under way. Added on some things to compliment the build. Going with the following items below:

JetHot coating for the headers. Satin Black.
LT5 clutch
Katech Aluminum Flywheel
Ti/Mo Intake valves

I bought a set of new Texas Speed 2" headers that were Jet Hot satin black coated from another member here a year or so ago. They are holding up great.

Glad to hear it. Inquired about it with Zach and JetHot is what was recommended. Almost went without it due to some lead times but actually had some luck and they will be sent out while the build is ongoing.

I seen your car in person today when I dropped mine off and I should've took a pic of it but its looking good. Everything is all organized, its in good hands. After my walk thru I was pleased and glad I went to Stage 3. The facility is amazing with all the start of the art tech & so forth. I'll be tuning in to see the progress.

By the way, could you tell any difference with that Mishimoto cooler?

Glad that we could influence you to go for the stage 3! And the mishmoto oil cooler is part of the 427 build. I brought my car to them bone stock with the exception of a catch can.

Mine's there too, red 2002 Camaro SS. I can't wait to get it back.

Yeah it was definitely the right decision after seeing what all goes into it. It made sense, and wow I thought you had that installed previously, this is definitely going to get interesting.

I do remember seeing a 02 Camaro, I didn’t get a chance to see the plate but I seen one their outside as I was pulling in, they possibly was rearranging cars around to get mines in because they luckily had a open lift for me. I can’t wait to see the results you get
