got a new job, ready for a bad financial decision, need advice

So I just got a new job and I am ready to make a bad financial decision.

I currently have a 2010 Corvette 4LT (it has basically every option except the grand sport body) and I either want a C7 corvette or a Gen 6 camaro 2SS.

The way I see it, I can buy a used C7 corvette for around 45K, I can buy a new 2SS for around 45K, or I can buy a used 2SS for around 35K.

But is the C7 worth the extra 10K for the used car? And will the 2SS hold its value?

I used to have a 2010 v6 Camaro and that thing did not hold its value that well.

Used C7 is not worth the price. Same engine in Camaro. Different body. For the money you cant go wrong on Camaro. SS models hold more value than V6 and should stay in upper 20s or low 30s for 2SS after several years based on my research. Youre on a Camaro site so obviously we're all biased

I'm bias but I say go camaro. Test drove a vette and the camaro I have today and loved the camaro more. Obviously I'm bias but seriously I find excuses to drive my car around and it's ridiculously fast

Unbiased...

You clearly care about resale value, If it's that big of a concern to you may I suggest a Toyota Tacoma or a Toyota 4Runner... They barely lose value it seems. These are not cars you buy thinking you'll sell in a few years and take a small loss.

But if those 3 are your only options, I would stay away from a new Chevy anything since the moment you drive it off the lot you lose almost $10K.

The Corvette or used Camaro would be my vote, Test drive them both and figure out which one fits you best and which one has the options you most desire. But I'd also be weary of used cars... For a 6th gen to be used someone had to unload it within a year... Why?.

Re-sale value wise the Vette will hold it's value better than the Camaro. But either way if you are concerned about the Vette or Camaro holding value you need to re-think your purchase and invest your $$ into something else. A car is not an investment and it will not hold it's value unless you are going ultra rare not a mass produced $50k vehicle.

My brother has a c7 z51 package, has had it for a little over a year. I use to be jealous when he rolled up cause I was Camaro less but now that I have my 1LE he's been thinking about switching out his vette for a ZL1 lmao... Trying to 1 up me of course, his first car was a 2010 v6 Camaro RS so once a Camaro fan always a Camaro fan.

I love driving his vette the feeling you get is incredible, but getting in and out of it sucks and it doesn't have the badass soul that the camaros got.

I've always Been a fan of buying the new car, no better feeling than being there first.

Good luck...

I'd personally go with the used C7, but a GS model(wait a bit longer). It'll definitely hold a better resale value than the other Camaro choices.

If you can afford the Vette, then get the Vette!

I love Camaros, but they don't really compare to a Vette. You would have to go ZL1 in my opinion.

OP clearly isn't inquiring about a Toyota/truck. FJ cruiser has the highest resale last I heard, in that regard.

Unless you got ripped off initially, more like about $4-5k actually. I've bought and traded many cars over the years.

If you are already concerned with re-sale value you better buy used since it will have already taken the initial big hit for depreciation. Like others have said it's kinda counter productive to get caught up in resale value, just get the car you want and enjoy it!!!

That said I bought my 2012 2SS (36k on the clock) in February of 2015 for $25k, in 2 years I put almost 30k miles on it and then traded it in on my 2017 SS 1LE and got $18k out of it so yea the SS holds decent value after the initial hit. So I would say used 2SS!!!
