auto headlights come on WAY too soon

If it's within 2 hours of sunset and I get in any kind of shadow for even a few seconds, my headlights come on. From my experience with other cars/trucks, this Camaro turns to the lights on way to early.

Thoughts?

and I think it's a good thing. More than anything else I hate on the road, is someone pulling right out in front of me. The more they see me, the sooner they see me...the BETTER.

Negatives... can't think of any.

You can disable the auto function, but why? Lights are good.

are your windows tinted? with tinted windows, unless the sunlight is coming directly through the windshield, the sensor on the dash can read the light level as darker than what it really is outside the car and activate the lights...

I wish they'd make the ambient light sensor sensitivity a configurable setting. For example, in an Audi I had, the auto-on light delay could be set to almost instantaneously, where any dark shadow or driving under an overpass could turn them on, all the way up to 15 seconds or so, so that the little stuff wouldn't set it off.

I also wish the DRL's were configurable. I'd rather have them set to the amber turn signals on bright, than using the headlights.

I was followed and tailed once because of this issue - Dude in front of me got mad and thought I was flashing my lights at him on and off because we were driving at dusk on a tree covered back road - when the light would peek through the trees the lights would turn back off again for a few seconds.

I ended up pulling over to let the guy past and he stopped to yell at me. I asked wtf his problem was and he told me - I explained that it must have been the auto lights but he didnt believe me, told me to eat a bag of richards, and spead off (I was much bigger then he was).

I make a habit of turning the dial to the right twice now anywhere near dark to avoid the issue.

they should make it a law to have headlights on when ever the car is moving.

I agree. It does come on a bit early. When I was stuck in traffic and drive under a overpass, it would come on then go out after I get through. I don't like to cycle the HID on and off since I heard that it is bad for them.

My Subaru does not come on early enough so I'll take the early over late any day.
