I must admit, I'm not sure how long to wait (or if it's actually necessary), but I always give the oil some time to "distribute" itself before I start the car. An hour or so...

I check it fairly often but it never appears dirty, shake it out and throw it back in even though I see no visable dirt/dust.

I think Vararam sells it, as well as the vendors that sell the Vararam intake. Also Green Filters sells the cleaning kit http://www.greenfilterusa.com/
