Huh?

I had 16.9 before the Range and now 17.4 after. That seems like an increase in MPG. You seem to get better MPG because your highway commute is at highway speeds. Mine is in traffic to and from work. I'm sure I could get 22 MPG or better if I could actually drive to work with no traffic.

I've been using the Range since February. It's always worked fine. Knock on wood.

Had mine for two+ years without codes or goofy stuff like failure to run/start/etc. I did leave it plugged in for about 7 days (once) without starting and the small battery drain caused me to have to jump-start. That's the only incident I've had. (Also knocking on wood)

are you going buy the DIC reading of your average, or are you calculating the mpg manually?

The DIC isn't very accurate. mine indicates that my lifetime (I've never reset it since I bought new) is 15.8mpg, but 350 miles per tank with 16 gallon fills is 22 not 15.8.

The 22 you get is a combo of city and highway driving? Thats quite a bit better than most. Our average is 18.4. When I do a check when on the road, it comes out too about 23-24 MPG average. I reset the DIC once (had just about same lifetime average at that time - 18.3) and the DIC was showing 23.something, so about the same as what I calculated. I think its pretty accurate, at least with our car.

My car would do the exact same thing all the time. I would unplug it wait 10 minutes plug it back in and all was good till next time lol. I got tuned at camaro fest so I shouldn't have any more problems.

my city driving is 1 mile to the freeway (2 lights and 1 stop sign) and then 21 miles highway to work, and 3 blocks from off ramp to office (1 light).

reverse for coming home. Not much in the way of city driving. 1.25 miles a day typically.

and as I said I drive against the flow, so 65-70mph all the way..

AFM doesn't bother me, this is the 3rd vehicle I have had with it (2005 300c Hemi 5.7L, 2010 Avalanche 5.3L, 2012 Camaro 6.2L) all have had cat back exhaust and AFM (MDS for Chrysler) and the drone isn't an issue for me.

I will say the GM system is a bit better than the Chrysler, it stays in AFM mode longer and doesn't seems to affect acceleration, the Chrysler bounced in and out a lot and had a bad lag when you floored it.

I have reset mine many times. During the first year I hand calculated and the DIC was always within 0.1 MPG. Since then I quit calculating.
oh yeah I reset it when I bought it, haven't since then. I don't find much faith in it, I've owned 4 cars with a similar system and they are always way off.

Update: I sent my module back to Range Technology for an upgrade in the software. They received it on the 13th and I got it back today (18th) with the latest version installed. Cost is free! Plugged in the module and went for a drive and it works as advertised. Started the car multiple times with no issues. Very happy with Range Technology, this product, and their customer service. I would recommend to anyone who wants to disable the AFM and not re-tune their car.

If by cripple you mean perform better, then yes. I love my crippled L99 SS running the Range. The car performs how it was meant to now.

had similar things happen a couple times when I had the range, had it updated and then had no problems till I sold it. if you bought it used you might consider sending it into range for an update to the newest version. they usually do it for free!
