Cool Taste the Collinite!!

Well...well...well...I'm back for those that remember I had the 2SS Nightfall Grey Metallic Camaro. (check out my profile album)

I now have a ZL1 and still use the same cleaning products and “by hand” techniques.

For my 2017 mosaic ZL1, I am layering 10 coats of Collinite #915 over a 2 month period and I’m at the final coat.

The final step will be to polish then seal the Collinite layers in with Meguiars Ultimate polymer paste wax and perform an alternating refresh of #915 and polymer once or twice a month.

Hot tip: use quick detailer after you remove the initial paste coat from your car...

When not using the wax paste, I use spray wax to maintain...

Products:

Platnum Microfiber extra thick Microfiber rags from Walmart (for washing only)
Meguiars Ultimate wash and wax soap
Meguiars Gold wash (for foam cannon)
Adams drying towel
Autogeek 12” wheel brush
Chemical Guys caliper and lug nut brush
Black magic tire gel
Adams wheel well dressing
The Rag Company Eagle Edgless towels
Collinite #915 (luster like no other!!!)
Meguiars or Adams Compound (only once at the beginning of the layering process)
Meguiars Ultiamte Polish (only once at the beginning of the layering process)
Meguiars Ultimaite Polymer Paste
Mothers chrome polish
Adams Leather Int.
Adams Quick detailer
Meguiars Ultimate Quick detailer (does not leave behind too much haze)

If you are in Miramar FL, stop by RCG “Ridin Clean Garage” and tell Chris Panthro sent you!!

Looks really good but I can’t help but think there is an easier way than 10 layers. I once did 3 costs of zaino and could see into another dimension through the paint.

Also with all that hard work I would not be using any towels from Walmart.

Did you check the weight before the 10 layers? j/k . Looks great. You get my respect for the work and dedication.

What’s your mainance wash process going to look like? Seems like a lot of work/layers just to disappear after a few washes as carnuba products do.

Looks f*ucking amazing in the mean time though

Yikes. This is a terrible way to go. Collinite not really known for its shine (which is why you're layering it on top with something else), I dont get this at all.

Um.. broolstoryco i guess.

You and me both… I’d rather spend four hours every 5-6 months and get 98% gloss of the above… Times have changed, multilayering/all weekend details just are’nt necessary anymore....

I haven’t found anything better than this procedure :

Wow, that is crazy...much better products put there that are simple and quick to do that provide awesome gloss/shine and protection.

Eh, all that matters is how OP thinks it looks. Some people just love to rub on their car. I really don't think that 10 coats should be the limit. If OP wants to keep that perfect all over wax, he probably does need to wax it once a week, depending on the environment.

I always felt that my nightfall grey metallic looked best with 3M Synthetic Wax. But I have a coating on mine now, because I was asked to test and review a coating.

Those pics look great BTW!

LOL...Everyone is entitled to their point of view, put simply....

I believe this is NOT the most TIME efficient way of applying paint protection; however, for waxing by hand to get the best and deepest look this is one of the best ways.

Collinite has a very high carnauba content that deepens the color of cars; however, it does not last 3 months. The point is to get as much carnauba cured on as possible, then seal it in with a polymer.

Not everybody is looking for the easy way out, you get back what you put in!!

I'm quite sure there are; however, I wonder why I keep getting complements at red lights and at cars and coffee in West Palm Beach?

I keep getting responses form other car enthusiast and ZL1 owners saying "it looks like you just got it off the show room floor".. this after driving 60 miles for the car show.

I guess the Collinite is doing something right....

Paint sealant

I found Cal/Tex paint sealant, & wild cherry wax. Hand buffed & polished 2 step every six months is ok for me.

In my experience, single stage all inclusive products cant do everything and last a long time!!

In my opinion, the best results are from products dedicated to do one specific task....and yes, I am willing to dedicate 3 hours for the process.

Now I am ready to put on the polymer that will make everything POP!

If you want to see my work, I may be at the next cars and coffee in Palm Beach.

Thanks! The maintenance process will be to alternate waxing twice a month between the collinite and meguiars ultimate polymer.

The polymer will cover and chain in the collinite; therefore, the 10 layered cured collinite will not be as exposed to the elements and last a long time.
