Just stash the money! Put it away somewhere you wont be tempted to spend it. It took me almost 2 years to get my credit/deposit sorted out. Totally worth the wait, I got exactly what I wanted.

The idea about getting an inexpensive used car on a loan is a very good idea. Work on building your credit. I don't buy the saying that you're only young once. These cars are awesome at any age. Chevy will be coming out with even better camaros, and even if they stopped making them next year (they won't), there will still be plenty on the market. The best thing that you can ever do for yourself is to never live paycheck-to-paycheck. Make sure that you can always put away some money every month. You will never get ahead if you don't.

Thanks for all the support. Im going to give it one more try in a couple of months with more down and if that doesn't help, then i have no choice but to get my brother involved or get another cheap car to build my credit.
Let's see what the future holds. Can anyone give me an idea on how much Insurance would be? |

Kind of contradictionary, saying the car you were supposed to buy was a week late, then saying you bought an L99 instead. You couldn't wait one week? |

Keep your goal in mind
Work hard and do whats nessasary to achieve said goal and never give up. Good luck. I wanted this car soooo bad that I gave up smoking to make the payments as I logged in my journal

You can always get a co-signer, especially if you can put fork over a large enough down payment. Word on advice on credit cards, the ideal number on most credit reports is between 2 and 4. The ideal balance on the cards is 20% to 50% at all times. The higher the overall credit limit the better, but thats something that comes with time.

Forgot to mention if you do get a co-signer make sure you can pay on the loan. If you default you'll jack the co-signer's credit also.

I started this thread a couple years ago. Well, four years later it finally happened. I took the advice of many and decided to get another car. While it was not the car I wanted - it helped me built my credit. I pinched pennies over the last four years and managed to save enough for a decent down payment, not a lot, but enough to cover the upside down cost of the other car.
The car is not Rally Yellow (my username), but I could care less. She's a beauty and I still can't believe she's mine. A little hard work goes a long way. Let the modding begin. Cheers. |
