1SS Owners do yourselves a favor and cover your knee pads! DIY

Okay fellas, do yourselves a favor and cover your plastic knee pads in Suede you won't regret it! At first I covered my pads with this leather vinyl, but in the end it looked tacky and the creases were terrible, I removed the leather and I instead used Suede that was on sale at Joann's (One yard was $15 which is pretty good). When I was there I also picked up a spray adhesive, I HIGHLY advise anyone to use a spray and not SuperGlue. The whole project took a few hours, but the results turned out great I love the shade of black I picked it looks so goodAnd guys if you have no experience regarding fabric and or fabric work this is a easy project. The feel of the pads are great it's still hard, but the touch and feel is great.

Overall I really like how it ended up and I'd advise anyone who can to try it out.

you have a step by step guide by any chance?? Love the idea. Just did a DC to NY and back weekend and padded knee pads would help!

Good idea.

I want something wearable & replaceable for the speaker covers. My big feet always manage to rub the grill & leave a mark, or worse, a scuff.

I was actually considering doing that too. Did you put any padding underneath?

Hello Chris,

I could undo one of the knee pads and make a step-by-step video, it would be really easy for me to do so, but I don't have the time. Good thing I found this post that can help you out it helped me out. The process is basiclly the same, I would just like to advise you that you DON'T use padding it makes it look lumpy and make sure to use a spray adhesive with a webbing layer. Also make sure to use a single layer of spray, if you use to much it'll soak into the fabric and stain it. Good Luck!

Hello Mike,

No I didn't you could add a tiny layer, but it won't do much for comfort and besides it'll look lumpy.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. I'm certainly no upholstery expert so all tips I can get help. Might give it a shot.
