That 'Extra' Manual 26 HP - Where? How?

I searched but didn't see much...The extra 26 HP (400 vs. 426) in an SS with auto vs. manual trans, where does it come from? Tune/ECM?

Autos have more drivetrain loss.... so to the wheels that 26 is closer to 40. Manual SS's dyno around 370ish stock where autos are closer to 330

heads, cam, etc. They're milder on L99 due to AFM. There was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago.

The basic difference is in the heads, and compression ratio.

Funny on the auto trans. Wifey can't drive a stick. Well, the one in the car at least.

Yeah, I see it now on the mighty Google. Cam, etc. Oh well, shouldn't take much to get 26 more horses. Let the mods begin...

I was in the same boat. Wife won't drive a stick. Now, after headers, CAI, etc.. and a tune - Wife won't drive because it's too fast and scares her. Oh well, her loss.

LS3 owners have to deal with a crummy throw out bearing and a hydro clutch that shares fluid with the brakes, not to mention skip shift. Don't feel too bad.

This tread is not going to get off topic. Geesh guys. I mean we all know the L99's are faster just by looking at the top speed charts.

Wow, some people in here and there "OMG LS3 is faster" babble.
