1LT has hard plastic end links where SS has steel/aluminum?

I read a review on MotorTrend or Car and Driver (looking for link) that said the 1LT has hard plastic end links where SS has steal/aluminum (and to not freak out yet).

Any other reference to this?

The preview pics GM posted before the reveal showed composite links. I believe that's what they were referring to.

Also, by definition a composite is not the same as a plastic. And simply saying its made from 'composite' says approximately nothing about its strength. Paper mache is a composite but so is just about everything thats made from carbon fibre.

I understand that. I never said anything about it's strength.

Indeed, the armor on modern battle tanks is composite. All it means is it made up of layers of dissimilar materials.

No you didn't. I was trying to add my 2 cents to what you had already said.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I work in the plastics industry and I know how people think when they hear "plastic". I can guarantee the parts are as strong or stronger than an aluminum counterpart but people hear plastic and think it's cheap crap.

It is cheap that's why the ss gets different ones.

They don't expect you to be pulling 1g turns in a stock 1LT.

If I remember correctly, my C5 base coupe had 'plastic' end link and when I upgraded sway bar, I went with c5z06 end link with was metal.

That plastic end link worked fine honestly. (I tracked that C5 about 8 times a year, and that link was changed out on 3rd year in my ownership.)

Carbon fiber is also type of "plastic", isn't it?

Nope. I believe the fibres themselves are, technically, a ceramic. Similar to graphite. These fibres are usually embedded in an epoxy (plastic) matrix, thus creating a composite material: carbon fibre reinforced plastic. But most people just call it carbon fibre.
