0-60 time for the SS

Looking at the ats-v's 0-60 time of 3.9, would it be impractical to think the gen 6 would come close to that. I was thinking 4.0 for the auto and 4.1-4.2 manual, If the Camaro is around 3700 lbs, and comes with the LT1. The c7 z51 times are published at 3.9 so I'm pretty sure it's not gonna beat that. What do you guys think?

Why would the Camaro be any slower? The ATS-V is using a 6-speed auto vs possible 8-speed for the camaro. It's also weights 3700lbs (assuming camaro weighs the same) and the V6TT makes slightly less torque than the LT1.

I'd say the camaro should be at least the same or slightly quicker.

Remember how the ZL1 had bigger and faster numbers than the CTS-V? Despite it sharing a lot of components including engine, MRC, etc., the ZL1 had 24 more hp and a bit more torque. I predict the 2016 Camaro lineup will beat the ATS/CTS lineup in a similar fashion to its respectful trim level counterpart. Cadillac will bring the luxury, Chevrolet will bring the muscle.

As far as 0-60 times, 3.9 seems like a time for the 6th gen Big HP car (ZL1) not the SS.

Ats-v might have lower peak numbers but the powerband is where it shines. I'll take a few less at 6000rpm for a good chunk more from 1500-5500rpm.

I don't think the LT1 will keep up with a twin turbo 6.. I'll still take the LT1 though.

Does more gears equal faster car? I don't think so. I figured they are slapping on more gears to help with the gas mileage.

Low end torque on a V8 is hard to beat. Unless there is a feature on the TTV6 to implement boost at low RPM.

As long as the rear end gear it's the same as the current car... then the new car should be faster. Adding more gears won't make it slower all they would be id more overdrive gears. To be honest adding more gears could make it faster depending on the gear ratio

Well yes, 7th and 8th are probably for fuel mileage. However, if gears 1-4 are shorter than in the 6-speed and you can hook up them up, there is a chance it can accelerate quicker.

yeah, I know more gears COULD mean it's faster. it all depends on the actual gearing. I'm just saying, more gears doesn't automatically mean it's faster.

I think the camaro would be slower because the corvette is 3.9 0-60, and I don't think the camaro can match the corvette with the same engine and transmission and a 400 lbs difference. I know there are other things to consider (gear rations and such), but I just don't think the camaro SS will be faster than the c7.

I'm going to guess a base Camaro SS will be in the 4.3-4.4 0-60 range. I believe the 5th gen SS is around 4.7-4.8 0-60

I hope the big hp camaro gets atleast 3.6 0-60 times, especially if it gets the LT4. I'm thinking it will be closer to 3.4.

There was a report on this forum that the C6 SS would have performance equal to the current ZL1. We will see I guess.
