And I'm curious: when is the earliest you think we'll get some solid info on the 6th gen?

The good ol Iron Duke. It was also available in the S-series trucks as well as the A and J body cars.

Ford already has a turbo 4 cylinder making well over 300HP/300 TQ available and I'd expect that to go in their next base Mustang. That TQ is also available from a low rpm all the way to high rpms.

GM's 2.0 turbo is making 270HP, but I'd expect it to bump up to 300 as well for the Camaro if it used in the car. If that is the case, I'm not sure there will be a good reason for a V6 that makes more HP, but likely no more TQ than the turbo 4....and that pains me because I really really would love to see the V6 make another appearance with at least 330 to 340+ horsepower.

Either of these engines in a 3,400 car would be pretty dang fun. I'd expect the base Camaro to be in the 3,400 lb range since the base ATS weighs just under 3,400lbs from what I understand.

A 420+ HP V8 or turbo V6 SS would be sick.

The weight will be down for sure. No doubt about it.

Another thread similar to this just got started:

More news about the ATS that could provide speculation on the 6th gen Camaro.

http://ats-v.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&p=231#p231

As I stated...weight starting under 3,400 lbs.

Under 6 second 0 - 60 for the turbo 4, and 5.4 seconds for the V6. Very cool....I'm digging it. With some basic mods on either of these engines, you now have base engines that put performance closer to today's SS than the V6.

Just imagine what the SS could be capable of.

I'm pretty sure they have already approved this engine choice for the 6th gen.

If it goes turbo four. It makes sense. It would take a while for me to get used to it but by gen 6. I'll be in the corvette group anyways and I'll be sitting behind the wheel of a v8
The gen 6 is going to be badass. I rather see GM put a twin turbo 6, a DI v8 and a SC v8 for the top dog
But not the less it will be a performer, if it ends up looking remotely close to the magazines predictions, I'll surely be drooling
