The '14-'15 refresh was the best thing that happened to the Camaro for us.
We were not interested in a '10-'13 because the taillights reminded us of a Vega.

We are getting a faster, lighter, updated Camaro. That's exactly what GM promised.

How does your old Z/28 stack up to your new camaro in raw speed?

I'll wait for the official release but the CNBC stuff looks pretty legit.
Not looking good IMO, glad I got my 5th gen. Now I can lay to rest this 6th gen ZL1 plan and just fully build my SS.

While I don't necessarily share your views about it looking like a Vega, I did however refuse to even consider a Camaro until the 14 refresh came out. So in that respect, I share your disposition.

I thought the same thing when I saw the photo and I would rather have that 1971 instead of the 2010-2013....

We have some time to kill and since you asked the question, here goes. I had that car for 17 years and my Grandfather bought it in 1970. The car was ordered with 4:10 gears, it was fun. In 2005, I mechanically restored the car, new everything underneath completely updated. Hotchkis rear springs, front springs, added sway bars to the rear, bigger one up front. Updated the 302, bored .30 over, bigger cam, with better valves, complete roller valve train, Hooker Competition Plus ceramic coated headers, complete Flowmaster 2.5" exhaust, MSD ignition. The speedshop said the HP should be around 425 HP. It was fun the drive, but it did have traction issues. No doubt my new car could outhandle it, no way I would beet in in the quarter! It was way fun for me to be around 3K or 25 mph in first gear and floor it/hang on! Only drove the car for about 400 miles a year and now I drive about 12K miles a year.

The 64 year old guy that purchased the car is in the process of a complete frame off to the hilt restoration. I'll will see my old car again in about 6 months for group pictures!

I expected more aggressive design but actually I'm glad that it's not a jaw dropping design because I would probably want to buy one. I'm still very happy with my 2010 SS and the best thing is it's paid for, no car payments!

5th gen vs 6th gen

No matter what the 6th gen looks like or how much less it weighs or how much better it handles or whatever improvements it has over the 5th gen, the 5th gen will have one thing over the 6th gen. The 5th gen is the Camaro that brought the Camaro BACK!

As exciting as the release of the 6th gen is, it is the 5th gen that was worth waiting for. There was no new Camaro you could go out and look at, sit in, test drive or buy.

The 5th gen Camaro will always hold a memorable and historic place in the history Camaro's. Long live the 5th gen and here's to a long and healthy run of the 6th gen.

Way to go GM and Chevrolet.
