Detroit free press, Weight info Aaron Link himself

As GM is doing with every new model, there is more aluminum, especially in the chassis and suspension, and broader use of lighter-weight high-strength steel. On average, the new Camaro weighs 200 pounds less than the 2015 model, but that can be even more depending on the powertrain, says Aaron Link, lead development engineer who has been working on this car for the last three years.

Well, if the basic body shell itself weighs 130 less. And the suspension weighs 26 pounds less. And the dash weighs 10 lbs less. And the transmission weighs less ... it all adds up

I believe it. The SS will probably just hit that mark, but the ecotec should be easily more than 200lbs less than the 2015 base car.

I agree.

I read today that someone from GM stated the 4cyl lost around 300 lbs. I can't for the life of me remember too much info for one day lol !
