2016 ZL1

Has anyone heard or read if the ZL1 will be included in the initial 2016 release? I thought I read somewhere that it wouldn't be released until a year later, anyone else hear that? Thanks.

No official information yet, only speculation. The only confirmed 6th gen information is the chassis that will be used and where it will be built. That's pretty much it.

I highly doubt that it would be. Not a chance.

Well...there's a chance. Not probable, but there is a chance.

I'd guess (hope) late summer 2017 ZL1.

Just a guess no one knows for sure, I would say no ZL 1. They do not make the LSA anymore and I would be surprised if they share the LT4 from the Corvette. Chevy has made no comment on the subject. On a different note Autoweek just did a Z06 test and they ended with we hope Chevy has the ZR1 in the wings. Then the question becomes what engine will go there..... More Popcorn.

They are "sharing" the LT4 with the CTS-V.

Last CTS-V and ZL1 shared the LSA.

I don't see why the ZL1 can't have an LT4 - no reason not to.

Thanks. That is pretty much what I thought, but thought I would ask.

Agreed, lots of speculation until the reveal is done.

I didn't know they weren't making the LSA anymore, I have been away from this forum for a while. Thanks for the info.

I saw the CTS-V (and ATS-V) at an Auto show in January. The CTS-V looks bada$$, but it is a big car.

Agreed, there's more reason to suspect their will not be a Z/28 than a ZL1 at this point.

My reasoning is the fact they can only sell so many LT4,s. Before they cross the cafe' mpg levels. So they are limited to how many V8 engines they build. If the 2.0TT motor goes in the LS model and it sells well than they can increase production of the LT4. That's why I think they are going to wait a year. In the end its all a game of number's, and that's why this speculation is fun! I could be wrong and in NY they will debut the new ZL1. I hope so...

I'm no CAFE expert, but it appears companies pay the penalty all the time, and it hasn't changed their product offerings, in terms of offering performance vehicles.

My guess is that auto manufacturers will prioritize supply and demand economics over CAFE standards, and will simply pass on the cost of any penalty to the consumer.

Yes foreign company's will pay the penalty, but they pay the price in import limits. Kia is in the middle of that with the MPG fraud, the US have reduced the number of cars they can bring in. The problem for domestic auto makers is the government will stop the tax incentives, the EPA would demand it. And that would cost GM Millions. Much more than they can sell cars to make up. The political climate in Washington right now is not friendly to gas guzzlers, they want more alternate fuel vehicles. So I am very sure GM is going to be very careful how the next several years work out. I hope the CEO Mary Barra, is smart I have enough stock.

We will be extremely lucky to see anything 6th gen in New York in my opinion.
