new lt1 6.2 in 6th gen?

So I'm trying to follow gm's history and predict the future. So far the new C7 has the 6.2 Lt1 and its badas* so far. Most of us know how the 4th gen had the tpi lt1 from 93-97 which was the same as the C4 corvette, and in 97 the ls1 was first introduced in the C5 (another hit).

When the 4th gen fbody updated so did the V8 and we got the Ls1 out of the C5. As a matter of fact in 2001 and 2002, the Ws6 trans am manual actually was the quickest in the quarter mile (yes stock) out of the camaro ss base (non z06) c5, and trans am. What a hit it was and did it knock the boots out of the 4.6 mustang.

Ok so my point is so far there is no rumors that we are going to get an lt1? Gm just released the new chevy ss sedan and it has the ls3. I cannot see them dropping this car and turning around and changing the motor? My point is it does not look good for the short term that we are going to get the lt1 meanwhile the coyote 5.0 will still be faster (stock) than our current ss and l99 camaro's.

I kind of thought that Gm would have had an answer to the 5.0 finally being faster since 2011 (short term) i.e the lt1 but it looks bleak thus far. Idk please fill me in and let me know because so far my prediction of the lt1 being in a 6th gen is just talk. Dont get me wrong I love my 2ss rs ls3 but am just thinking outside the box so to speak. Mopar has done wonders too with the 392 and upcoming wildcat. Can't wait to see what Gm has planned.

Nothing new. All predicted before. The engine choice seems like a given when the LT1 came out. So you are on the right track of mind.
...

on a side note I haven't heard to many complaints about the AFM in the C7. Which is good improve tech I think.

Not to side-track here, but I figured I'd share this tidbit.......

My brother purchased a new '14 Silverado 4x4 crew cab LT with the new LT-series 5.3. He took his family to Boston and back (roughly 900 miles total). Figure, him, his wife, 2 kids and about 300lbs of stuff. He got 22.9mpg average for the whole trip and his best 50-mile split was 25.5mpg. He said it seems to stay in V-4 mode longer. Probably because it has more power than the older LS-series 5.3's.

I'll take a 460hp V-8 in a Camaro that can get near 30mpg on the highway!

Yep. The Stingrays are knocking down 30 highway easily. I don't believe the EPA numbers for the new 8 speed auto trans have been released yet but they could be an improvement over the 7 speed manual. A very impressive powertrain that should only be slightly limited by the sixth gen's weight which is still up in the air.

Was in a C7 , it did not have the Z51 package. On the interstate in 7th gear was only turning like 1300 rpm at 70. That's some serious overdrive. I don't think more gears would help much as far as cruising at interstate speeds. Maybe help acceleration and around town MPG.

You have to keep in mind the C7 has a very low CD and even lower frontal area. You can compare the C6 LS3 to the Camaro SS and see the difference.

Yeah, i shouldn't have said only limited by weight. Per this thread-http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6767-the fourth gen Camaro had a lower CD than the fifth gen and the C6. It will be interesting to see what the sixth gens CD will be, can't find the CD numbers for the 2014 refresh. How big a role do you think the CD will make a difference for the Camaros highway FE numbers? Would a tenth higher drop it from say 29 to 28? Is a hundredth difference in CD pretty negligible?
