First post- From a Porsche to a 2017 Camaro SS

I spent a lot of time on the site learning about the Camaro 6 before my purchase. Lots of good information on the site. A local dealer had an excellent end of year price on a 2017 manual 2SS, and offered me a good trade-in for my 2011 Porsche Boxster. I loved the Boxster's cornering ability, but the Camaro feels fairly close to the Porsche with much more power and a day to day ride that I can live with on these northern Wisconsin roads. Hope to meet some of you upper Midwest Camaro guys once Spring comes around again!

You will find ex-Porcshe, ex-BMW, etc., in no small numbers, that have changed to the SS or ZL1.

Welcome.

Gotta admin the Camaro is 20x more cooler looking than driving a Porsche.

I dunno the GT3s are pretty sweet. Would take an SS over a base Boxster though.

Nice. Welcome. I've had several other types of cars, BMW, Supra, Corvettes, etc etc and my current 1LE puts the previous to shame. You'll love the car.

Not to me. I'll take a 911 any day if money were no object.

911's look like frogs. Who wants a car that looks like a frog about to jump?

Let us know your impressions & comparisons with your Porsche after you get some time it the SS. I bet the torque difference with the SS has is one of the items that pops up.

Show us some photos of both rides!

Welcome! I actually still have mine but I came to my SS 1LE from a 997 C4. Lots of us porsche guys here!

Yeah, the Camaro is waaaaaaay faster than the 911. I’m not sure how long the Porsche is staying.

911s are cool, but they are the epitome of making up for an inferior design with more money. No doubt, it's just a matter of money, but when Z1-1LEs are running down GT3s that cost 3-4 times as much, it's pretty clear where the better chassis dynamics lay. That said, porsche is very very good at making cars that are amazing and fun to drive. 911s are eternal for this reason. I would be totally fine if the RSR chassis (mid-engine 911) made it into the production models, I think that's the eventual evolution that will keep it relevant, but it's not like they make bad cars, they just take a lot of money to keep them performing at those levels.
