Ever jack up your Camaro when washing it?

So hard to get past the brake calipers to clean the wheels. Very tempted to jack the car up, so I can spin the wheels.

You ever do that?

I do several things to get better access. i actually just did this 1 hour ago!

First, I sit on the ground. Trying to bend over and clean my wheels makes me bang my wrist and forearms on the caliper every time. Sitting in front of the wheel gets me a better angle.

*note: I have 20" wheels so maybe they offer a little better access to the barrel?

Second, I wear a cotton or microfiber work glove so when i do hit the brake caliper with my hand, it doesn't hurt as much.

Third, I use a flexible wheel woolie. i bend it in a way so that it can reach the back of the barrel.

If I was going to jack it, I would just take the wheels off and give a thorough clean, polish, sealant, wax.

That is just my experience. YRMV.

I like the work glove idea. May do that.

Just ordered up some smaller brushes to try to get in there between the caliper and I.D. of the wheel (barrel?).One might be bendable.

My wheels are 20" as well, but there is very little space between the caliper and barrel. Not sure my hand would fit between.

Hard to see here:

I use this http://adamspolishes.com/shop/exteri...el-woolie.html

Works really well. A bit awkward to use because when wet it's pretty heavy and the handle is thin, so it almost makes my hand feel like it's cramping up. However, it gets behind the calipers with no issue. I use Adam's wheel cleaner plus Adam's Car Shampoo in a separate bucket.

I also use their wheel brush and lug nut brush. Three brushes, one bucket, and cleaning products. On top of that I use a small blower for Chemical Guys to dry to the rims. I never need to use microfiber or wash mitts on my rims with all these products.

That looks like a really nice tool, Spartan sui.

I've got these coming:

I can always use them on the Jeep or motorcycle, if I don't like them on the Camaro.

Haven't settled on a wheel cleaner yet. Am trying a few. Will give Adams a shot sometime.

I use the Speed Master wheel brush and wheel brush Jr. in conjunction with the Mothers wheel brush. Between the three I get pretty much everywhere...

I use Wheel Woolies...then roll the car forward enough to turn the tires bout 180 degrees to get the spots behind the calipers. I also use Adams & natural boars hair lug brush.

I'm with Top dog, I have the wheel woolies. Best $40 I've ever spent on car care. Makes doing wheels easy, and can reach back behind to do the entire rim.

Supposedly this version of the wheel woolies is made to get behind the spokes much easier.

Everything is easier if you apply a nano ceramic coating to the caliper and barrel. Stuff just does not stick to it.

I've had a lot of success by simply applying a quick coat of any ole random spray wax...wiping it down after application. When you go to,wash your wheels next time...you'll see the brake dust just sprays off easily.

It works well, but I wish the handle was fatter. Because of the bend and small handle it makes my hand cramp up using it. When it's wet it wants to constantly rotate downward causing you to hold the tool tighter. However because there's essentially no handle it's difficult to do.

It works well but the ergonomics suck.
