I noticed you are still young. are you in school? I'm with Allstate and when I was in college I got a 10% discount for being above a 3.0gpa.

Well that seems like as good incentive as any to keep a good driving record. Recently changed insurance and pay $198 to have a '98 Mustang GT and a '12 LS on my policy. Couple years younger too.

$6,000 a year for insurance on a base model, V6, Camaro???? I'd be selling that car and buying a beater.

You got the trifecta there being 21, 2 tickets and losing your license.

6G a year you are basically paying the same as my property taxes

The sad thing is, unless it's a complete shit box worth about $500 he will still be paying out of his ass for insurance. Remember that insurance is not only for you and your car, but also for other motorists and their vehicles. He could be driving the shittiest car in the world, if he hits a Mercedes SUV and injures 4 people his insurance is going to have to pay a ton for that incident. So with his record it will be expensive to drive anything really.

OP, I suggest working on your record (aka taking defensive driving courses etc. to lower your points) meanwhile taking the bus or riding a bike?

Given your driving record and age, $500 per month is cheap for any Camaro. You need to start looking at an old cavalier until you have had a clean record for few years, gotten married and own a house. I promise your insurance will then be $700 per year on an SS. This is all from experience. I was in the same boat 15 years ago.

The best plan is to man up and pay or don't drive a camaro.
