Either of you guys that are moving to Cali have tint? I read somewhere that the State of California will still write tickets for tint that is not legal by their standards regardless of the registration state.

Just what I read though.

retro500, you must love sunshine, moving from one sunshine state to the other.

As a general rule , after 6 months in state one got to register the car , unless there is some kind of different rule for the Military !

Military do not have to register in the state, we'd be changing tags every 3 years and paying taxes in some states again

Not for the state, though they may harrass you about tinted windows or front plates. If your tinted or don't have a front plate. Where are you going to be stationed? Navy Base San Diego use to require you to get a California smog to get a base sticker, but since the Navy doesn't give out vehicle stickers anymore, I don't think they're doing that anymore.

I have heard the same thing. I've even talked to a few people that have had it happen, but I've been stationed here for 4 years now and never been stopped. I got my car in Vegas and pretty much every car sold there has dark tint on it. I even changed my tags to CA just last month and I still have my tint. I changed it because I could pay $75 for tags here (military tax waver made it cheaper) or pay $500 to keep my Nevada plates. I figure I'm only here for a couple more months before I retire anyway. Then, I'd have to change them to Delaware, so I wasn't going to pay that much.

Thanks guys for all your help.

I have another question. Does CA require 2 license plates?

I see Behic2320 doesn't have a front plate and also Smkn600CTD doesn't either?

Thanks guys.

I'm active duty military stationed in California.. I purchased my camaro in Oklahoma. It has okc plates on it and tinted windows. The cops don't harass me at all. My HOR is okc. I wouldn't register your car with California unless you absolutely have to as long as your active duty they can't touch you. You have to abide by your HOR EPA regs.. Being as okc doesn't have any I fall under them. Idk what it is in Florida. I've had my camaro here over a year and still no fix it tickets.

I have mine on a hideaway plate frame. I leave it hidden unless it parked on the street. The parking nazis got me twice for $100 bucks. Now worse case it's 10 bucks and pull the plate back out.
